Dan Campbell

I don’t get it.

I ridiculed this hire the second the Lions made it, in part because Bienemy had been interviewing and I was convinced EB was a slam dunk hire.

Instead, Campbell gets hired by the Lions. And it’s very clear to me from his first press conference that he’s a huge dingdong.

He says stupid things. He doesn’t seem to possess a reservoir of intelligence that I can detect. He gave an interview with Pat McAfee where he literally describes himself as being distracted by fans doing the wave.

What is going on? Why has he worked out in Detroit so far? Is this the best con job in America, and it turns out this guy is absolutely a genius?

How the hell has Dan Campbell worked out?

Nothing Campbell did reinvented the wheel. The Chiefs gave the game away plain and simple. Mahomes played fine. WR lost he game. Pure and simple, they lost the game.

He's the closest thing to Parcells since Parcells. A lot of coaches he coached with are or try to be very Parcells like - Sean Payton, Todd Haley etc. But underneath all the tough guy stuff Campbell is very open & vulnerable & it's not fake. Parcells could create a culture of "us" vs the world better than any coach I can remember - Cowher was pretty close. I see Campbell doing that. What really sets him apart is he really cares about his players. I read an article last week Parcells has given like $4 million to former players - 20 years from now I could see Campbell doing the same thing and he's about the only coach I could see doing that.

He was the biggest reason I thought the Chiefs would win. And he made a few head scratching decisions. But in the second half Andy and Nagy managed to top him. Never would've expected that.

I think talent can make a mediocre coach look good and a good coach look great. The Lions have a lot of talent in the trenches which comes from being not good for a long time.

I'm not sure what to make of going for it from your 18 yard line on 4th and 3 and then punting from the opponents 40 yard line on 4th and 3. Personally, I would rather the Chiefs just always run their normal offense until they get down close to the goal line. Not sure why they tip their hand and say: We're running a gadget play now...

Campbell made at least two really poor decisions that could have lost the game. He was bailed out by us playing like a bunch of reruns

The Lions were bailed out by our drops.

The only team that can beat the Chiefs...is the Chiefs.

Congrats to Coach Campbell, his staff and the Detroit Lions. They came ready to play, and stole a W from KC in Arrowhead.

Like I said, they aren't the same old Lions.
