Off-season WR possibilities

Seeing a lot of teams with sub .500 records with WRs that need to get with Mahomes.

Who is available and who would you like to see us pursue to go with Rice and Watson.

Strongly disagree.

People can say "Just trade for one!" but that is far easier said than done. KC is not in a window where it can just throw money and resources at a single problem and have enough to handle the rest of the roster. There's a balance to find.

Even spending tier-2 money to land a WR like Brown or Evans and then also sending the 1st on a WR might be seen as "too much" and could leave the roster unbalanced and short of being THE favorite in the NFL.
You're just not gonna be able to have a balanced roster with the QB making what he does.

They just made a RT the highest paid RT in football, yet they can't go pay a weapon?

Nah, we tried the "build the rest of the roster" thing and the QB has had a mental breakdown. If the defense suffers some next year, so be it. Defense from year to year is unpredictable anyway, so lets get back to scoring some points.

It doesn't feel like this comes close to addressing our major problems right now with consistency and mahomes having guys who can reliably just be where they need to be
Brown is not a deep-threat only.

He IS a guy who can win short, intermediate, and deep, he has very sticky and reliable hands, and he can make guys miss in the open field, too. For a smaller receiver, he's also highly effective in contested catch situations, too.

His usage would look like the way they used Tyreek Hill in 2021, not how they used Valdes-Scantling in 2022.

A guy with that ability isn't gonna be on his 3rd team in 5 years though, so I think we're probably overselling him a bit here.

Package a couple first rounders plus and just do it.

Lets stop dickin around, drop the hammer, and give Mahomes the elite alpha #1 he deserves for the final 10 years of his career.

Reid also probably only has a handful of years left. Let Big Red have a ferrari to scheme with to finish his HOF career.
KC still needs a LT, a Jones replacement (unless he’s already on the roster), and probably a TE. They already don’t have a ton of picks this year. Is Nabers so much better than who KC could potentially get without giving up as much draft capital? I am very leery about giving up multiple 1st round picks for any position outside of QB.

People complain that a guy isn’t fast or explosive enough and then when guys that can do that are put forward that are legitimate now everyone fast is “another MVS”.

We need guys that if you play man against KC or squat on routes will make you pay.

If we want Kelce to finish his career strong we need space for him.

Hollywood checks all those boxes and compliments Rice.

I disagree. Guys move around for all sorts of reasons. Good players hit FA all the time. Context matters.

The Ravens traded him because he was unhappy having a glorified RB throwing him the ball in Greg Roman's offense, and they didn't want to commit long-term to him. The Cardinals were a dumpster fire for most of Brown's tenure there.

If the Titans were willing to trade Hopkins this offseason, he'd be moving to his 3rd team in 3 years. Would that preclude him for you?

Exactly. This isn’t the same roster KC used to win the SB vs SF. They drafted CEH almost as a luxury as the roster had very few weaknesses across the board. This team has issues now and it’s more than just WR. They do need to address the position, but have to do it wisely.

Would Hopkins cost 20 million a year? Does context not matter in that one?

The disgruntled WR who got drafted early and hasn't lived up to it now wants to be paid when he's had 1 above average year. I don't think I'm that excited about that.

I'm using the example as someone who had two hall of famers throwing them the ball and didn't produce.

In the end, good players produce no matter who's throwing them the ball.

I'd give up my first and pay a guy 25 million a year and Hardman a minimal deal vs pay Hollywood 20 million plus a year.

Elite players produce regardless of who’s throwing the ball. No one is calling Brown elite. He would still do better here with this QB than anywhere else. MVS always had issues with drops and it didn’t get fixed here. He and Brown are nowhere near the same player.

Brown had a QB that couldn't throw the ball and then multiple, some barely even backup level, QB's in a dumpster fire organization throw him the ball.

Not remotely the same thing as MVS.
