I was going to suggests something else but for Akron that's probably pretty classy. Afterwords are you going to take her for a romantic stroll along the street of burned out factories.

No, I just didn't eat very much because I didn't like the process or the flavors. I ate a few of the bread things dipped in cheese and a couple of pieces of beef. That's it.

I've been to Pan-Asian restaurants where sharing food is encouraged. If it's done right that's some of the best food you'll eat.

Of course not. You're English. England's culinary gifts to the world are fish & Chips and figgy pudding.

Had I known Donger was English, I'd have been less concerned with his advice on food. English food is absolutely abysmal.

1) I'm an American and have lived here since I was a child.
2) Yes, for the most part, English food is crap. 3) I don't eat English dishes very often (probably five times a year). 4) But, don't knock Bangers and Mash or Fisherman's Pie. That's some tasty stuff.

For the same money you have to spend on a date that wants to "talk" and "get to know you" you can just go to the backpage and get sex.

My wife and I like to go to the Melting Pot sometimes, but we bought a fondue pot and everything you need to make a 3 course meal costs half of what you would pay at TMP.
But it's nice every now and then. |

It is pricey, but it is a two+ hour meal. Think of it as eating and entertainment (just like a Japanese steak house). My wife and have gone several times and we always have fun. After our first time there we bought a fondue pot and do it for dinner...the kids love it.
FYI...order a bottle of wine, don't just order drinks one at a time. The bottle will last the entire time and be cheaper in the long run. |

I'll be in the minority, and say it's my favorite place to go on a date with my wife. There's nothing there I haven't absolutely loved, and though I'm ridiculously full at the end of the meal... I actually get sad it's over.

Also, I should mention we ended up going to PF Changs instead. $40. Thats more like it. She had no problem switching places because she knew how expensive the Pot was. Good woman. We hit it off well. She may be a keeper...

Still think you should give The Melting Pot a try. It's definitely different, and you really can do it without the main courses. For two people, a cheese fondue is $15, and a chocolate fondue is $15. Reasonable.
On the other hand, my wife and I finally got to try the raved-about Red Robin that was opened next to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro. Two words: epic suck. Way overpriced, nothing special about any of it. The milkshakes were blah, the queso appetizer downright inedibly bad, her burger was your average pressed-patty with little taste, and my "salmon burger" was three small pieces of grilled salmon (nothing special about them). All that for a "mere" $40. Could've went to Johnny Rockets at half the price--and IMO Johnny Rocket's ain't that good, either. |
