I have a job interview tomorrow - question regarding facial hair

Is it appropriate to keep facial hair for a job interview?

I keep my beard trimmed and clean - doesn't look like a scraggly mess. I'm young, but look like I'm about 12 years old clean shaven.

Any input appreciated.

This picture of Kirby Puckett inspired me to grow my facial hair in his style when I was 17.

I shaved it off once for an interview in my early 20's and was ridiculed by my friends for a week. I looked like a 12 year old instead of a 12 year old's evil twin.
I didn't get the job, grew it back and landed a sweet gig in the financial industry soon after.

IMO - well groomed facial hair shows more of an effort in overall grooming than a straight shave. It cites a male's maturity, and thus, can invoke a sense of authority and responsibility.
A full beard on a young guy is difficult to pull off since it might lead one to believe you're too lazy to shave, but, if it looks like you've put effort into it's appearance, you should keep it.

Good luck!

You should have clarified that this was your situation, because it makes a really big damned difference vs, say, an office.

Outside of food prep and service, if you take such a hard-line stance against facial hair in the workplace, it just makes you look like an uptight, out of touch, weirdo.

Studies have shown that people view men with beards as being more intelligent and confident than those without (also more aggressive and unattractive, but that's beside the point).

If you don't shave everyday, then you're a bum.

Anymore though, **** it. A nicely trimmed beard doesn't look bad. Just don't go in there looking like Weddle from the Chargers.
I 2nd this especially if its a white collar type job. If its an already established and well groomed beard or stache you are probably fine, if anything else its best to be clean shaven. Some places are picky about that kind of thing and if you come in half shaven, peach fuzz, ect it might be one of the things they look to weed you out. At least with IT jobs they typically interview a ton of people for one position, so anything you can do to get the odds in your favor you should do.
