Choose one active NFL player to add to this Chiefs team

Spinoff from an IRL conversation tonight:

If you could choose one active NFL player to add to this Chiefs team, who would it be?

Assume that there are no trades or compensation involved, that you could just make the player of your choice a member of the Chiefs at their current age and they would be ready to play and contribute fully, immediately. They must be an active player in the league, not a historical player.

For the sake of the discussion, assume that any cap issues that would result are surmountable, and that the player wants to be a Chief for the foreseeable future. This is a question about the player's skills and abilities and not the business side of things.

So... who would you choose?

I didn’t expect all the butthurt Tyreek people to propose choosing him at 29 over any other player in the league but maybe I should have.

Offense - tossup between Justin Jefferson or Devante Adams.

Defense - it's a dead heat between Micah Parsons, Myles Garrett, and Maxx Crosby.

Gun to my head, I'd take Jefferson

If you have to add him to this team right now, and pay him right now, you have to get rid of Jones right now.

I'd prefer not to do that.

If you don't have to pay him yet, then you can worry about it later, and keep either Jones or Jefferson. Probably not both.

But if you have to jettison Jones to fit Jefferson right now, mid-season, then that's a different thing entirely.

Who's the best young safety in the league who can also stay healthy? Maybe a guy like Kamren Curl?

No, you're right. For some reason people refuse to believe it, but it was reported that the Jets were willing to trade 10 straight up. Veach preferred a package of picks because he didn't want to make a Moss for Troy Williamson trade.

I don't believe that's accurate. It was 2 2nds that they offered.

I could also make our defense insane by adding another top pass rusher (Parsons, Garrett, Bosa), dominant DT to play next to Jones (Simmons, Williams, Lawrence), or safety upgrade (Derwin James).

Jesus Christ first 6 answers are all perfectly acceptable and excellent choices.

I have no players to add except CJ Spiller.

So when talks with Hill stalled last March, Veach and his team huddled with Reid and discussed what might’ve seemed unthinkable a couple of months earlier: trading Hill. And it wasn’t just trading Hill, but trading Hill with the idea of stocking picks, plural.

That’s why when the Jets offered the 10th pick straight up for Hill, the Chiefs balked and asked for a package based on volume (rather than quality) picks, to try to avoid being the team that got Troy Williamson for Randy Moss.
