Bills/ Bengals [cancelled - process in OP]

In case anyone needs it spelled out, we would play at a neutral site if the AFCCG ends up being Chiefs vs. Bills. All other scenarios abide by the usual rules (so any other game the Chiefs play will be at home).

I understand the situation involving a young man with a medical condition but that doesn't mean you give the team the player was from an advantage.
They play or they get an L. It’s not fair that they get to refuse to play because of an injury (and I get that it’s a serious one) and then only have a 16 game schedule. Every one of the other 30 teams had to play 17. That’s 17 opportunities for injuries to happen. The Hamlin situation sucks, but it shouldn’t create a larger ripple effect throughout the NFL.

If it ends up that the regular season ends with Buffalo and Cincinnati not being able to complete a 17th game the league has some tough decisions to make. That’s all I was implying by the post and it got everybody’s panties in a bunch.

Winning percentage wouldn’t be fair because of imbalanced schedule, as is denying teams opportunities to play the full schedule - but logistics have to factor in. If the Chiefs win Saturday I don’t see them being denied the one seed if Buf/Cincy can’t get that game played. If Buffalo beats New England I can see them having a gripe about not having an opportunity to play for their one seed as well. Cincy only factors in if Kansas City somehow loses Saturday.

20+ soccer players collapsed on the field from cardiovascular problems in 2021 alone. Were those games all cancelled and not resumed for a week or more?

Not “just give it to the Bills or Bengals” just because.

i dont see how #2 , #3, and #4 are any different than "just because"

How is Cinci going to accept 2, 3 or 4? They won't.

How did they refuse? That decision last night was made mutually and any other decision encouraging gameplay last night would’ve been the wrong one.

not necessarily but the next time an ambulance has to take a severely medically distressed player off of the field, don't you think it might be a good idea to have a precedent and protocol in place that makes sense?

Our “panties were in a bunch” because you were saying stuff that was factually incorrect. You’ve now backtracked off that position but are still defending the initial point.

Somehow implying that the Bengals have any claim on the 1 seed if we beat the Raiders is lunacy as they’d have one more loss than we do.

The Bills? I agree with you. They’d have a real claim and I personally wouldn’t feel great about getting the 1 seed like that. But there are options like playing the game or flipping a coin that inject some semblance of balance into it.

I am not referring to last night. They could have played later this week and decided not to. There is still talk that they may/may not play Sunday either.

If we lose to the Raiders and Cincy wins the coin toss, they get the 1 seed. Seems totally like something they’d accept.

And who said they need to accept anything? If they’re not playing the game, what other options are there?

Is there any possible solution that results in Tom Brady going to prison?

That’s the solution I support.

But does a coin flip really bring any balance? That’s all luck based and not performance based. To give the Bills HFA because they earned it by picking correctly vs earning it on the field is silly. Plus if the Bengals were to lose to the Ravens they could lose the AFCN as well because of a coin flip. This affects more than just KC/Buffalo. I have zero issues if Buffalo get HFA, but they need to earn it and not just get lucky.
