IronMan Fever!!!
I have a bunch of friends who have called and want to go see IronMan. Plus, the beautiful and witty Mrs. FAX wants to see it, as well. Unfortunately, the calls kept coming in and they all want to go at different times. I'm willing to see the movie ... maybe 3 times, but not 6 or 7 in the same weekend. Therefore, a quandry results. How do I decide who to go see IronMan with and who I regrettably turn down? At this point, I've said "yes" to everybody.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance for your assistance with this matter and Go IronMan!!!

It's suprisingly violent, in terms of body count. Not graphic, just obvious they're kills, the way people are smacked around...

Other than that, nothing very 'adult' in terms of language or sexuality, and nothing struck me as overtly potentially frightening.

Not bloody, and one brief scene with Stark and a woman rolling around (and off) the bed. One bad word, IIRC -- "prick" -- but it's during a battle and kids may miss it (or not know what it means).

I think that'll hurt it at the box office. It looks...weird, for lack of a better word. Hopefully, if it's any good, word-of-mouth will help make up for that.

Joe Vanilla General Public doesn't generally go for anything that could possibly be construed as "artistic" in any way. Not that I'm calling it an art film, of course, but as you mention, its look is very stylized...

The movie is really fantastic. I got a chance to see it Thursday. It's well shot, well written, and the acting is actually Oscar worthy at times. That's pretty bold for a comic book movie, which usually has crappy and camply acting then justifies it by saying, "but it's just a comic book movie." Well, not this one. It takes itself just seriously enough that you can watch it critically, but it never takes itself so seriously that you think you're watching a drama. I think it's a perfect blend.

For the record, I'm not a comic book fan and I don't know crap about Iron Man... I'm the furthest thing from a "fanboy" you can get. I just like the movie a lot.

Well its Wachowski Bros. and they are obviously weird but talented.

It looks like a big budget artsy kids flick. That may not play too well in mainstream america.

Which brings up a good point. Its obvious the film is intended for kids younger than 16 or so. But those kids have no idea what "Speed Racer" is. I see Box Office problems...
