Football Would you try to acquire Merriman? - Page 6

Apparently the Chargers are putting him on the trade block. He hasn't been good at all lately.

With that said, would you try to acquire him for say a 5th or 6th rounder to have his rights next year if it's uncapped?

Or is he finished at the ripe age of 27?

I think this defense needs someone who can potentially collapse a pocket, so I say yes, but I also get too hung up on guys who performed well years ago.

Thoughs?

Yes, for a 4th or later, no question. We are talking about a talented LB who is just entering his prime and is so intense he thought he could play on one knee. That is the kind of attitude the Chiefs defense desperately needs.

Merryman for a 5th? LoL What are you guys smoking?

He hurt his groin in the 1st half of the 2nd game and has only played a handful since. When he has, he's arguably looked better than he did in '07. Even though he hasn't played much he still leads the team in pressures and is just as valuable blowing up tight ends and fullbacks in the running game.

5th round pick. LOL

i wouldnt give a 7th rounder for this piece of crap. like with B.Edwards there is a reason the guy is being traded. loud mouth with production, acceptable. loud mouth w/o production = traded

Who or what says he needs any motivation? He's probably one of the most intense players in te league.

The Chargers are willing to trade a guy for a second day pick when they'd get more compensation by just letting him walk next year.
