The Cleveland Browns' fire sale may yet continue as the team has reportedly made wide receiver Josh Gordon available.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Browns are willing to part with Gordon along with fellow wide receiver Greg Little:

ESPN's Adam Caplan adds that Gordon has actually been on the trade block for "several weeks":

Gordon is returning to the field in Week 3 after serving a two-game suspension at the start of the regular season, following a violation of the league's substance-abuse policy. He came into the season with some lofty expectations after his rookie year, in which he caught 50 passes for 805 yards and five touchdowns.

This news is exactly what Browns fans won't want to hear. It comes the same week as Cleveland essentially gave up on the 2013 season just two weeks into the season, first naming Brian Hoyer the starting quarterback over the banged-up Brandon Weeden and backup Jason Campbell, and then trading Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts.

For a fanbase as tortured as the Browns' it will hurt to see yet another talented offensive player be pushed out the door.

Only 22 years old, Gordon will continue to improve, and he's the kind of player a team can build a receiving corps around. The fact that Cleveland is thinking about offoading him is arguably more surprising than the Richardson trade.

However, if Cleveland is really in rebuild mode, it would make sense to cash in now on its most marketable asset and prepare for the future. The trio of Joe Banner, Michael Lombardi and Rob Chudzinski have a definite direction they're taking this team. They're not afraid to burn some bridges in the short term if it helps the long term, either.

Only time will tell if the plan works out.

Don't want Nicks and his agent already said the team QB will factor heavily in ability to extend him. Not going to be interested in KC, and there's talk that even if he gets traded he just wants to resign with the Giants after the season either way.

Just looking around at media mentions on Gordon and it's nuts all the teams mentioned

GB
LIONS
Baltimore
Carolina
Raiders
New England
Jets
Miami
Washington

and Miami is the one team that reports say highly unlikely and not going to get in bidding process against all the other teams.

This whole thing was manufactured because the media got caught with their pants down on the Richardson trade and assumed the Browns were having a fire sale. Turns out, it was just a smart move. They started speculating about who else they were trying to purge and the Gordon thing stuck because he's a good player.

The media just doesn't like good players to be on the Browns.

With the trade deadline fewer than 24 hours away, Cleveland Browns coach Rob Chudzinski repeated the team's oft-stated position that Josh Gordon is not being shopped.

"We have no plans of trading any of our guys, including Josh," Chudzinski said.

He added: "We're not shopping them."

He should be taken at his word. But the key word is "plans," because even though the Browns may not be "shopping" players per se, they are listening when people call.

I'm of the belief that Cleveland is in want of stockpiling Draft picks so they can make a move in the Draft to get the QB they want with plenty of ammo to still get young multiple Draft picks out of this and next year's classes. New coach and GM definitely willing to trade out talent to start fresh with their guys and get a better handle on the locker room culture and direction they'd control with new faces coming in that are being called upon to take up leadership roles and give the team a huge amount of flexibility in cap space, and ability to target their own free agents as they so choose.
