And most of the successful coaches in nearly every sport played backs this up.

Who is the most successful player as a head coach in NFL history? Tom Landry probably is. And even he wasn't a great player but a cagey one.

Ted Williams was a complete bust as a manager.

Teams should be motivated to do this. Because it ensures you’re not excluding great talent and as many other sports have figured out, former players tend to connect better with locker rooms. This should be happening organically and it flat out isn’t.
Unless you're on the "rigged" bandwagon, which owner do think would trade a chance for SB wins because they don't want a coach of a certain race?

And sometimes the locker room connection you think is a benefit is anything but that. It may help in some small way(s), but in the end a coach can't be a player's friend. And while I'm not suggesting that you're claiming that's what's going on, most people think "they can relate" is a kissing cousin to being their friend. And you don't need to have been where they are to give good advise for how they can become better players and people.

Alex wittingham isn’t family but he may as well be. He’s there because Reid is close friends with his dad. Adam Zimmer for crying out loud was for some reason calling plays in Minnesota. How many more were brought in because of who they know which, based on leadership structures, has been largely white.

You look at how Kyle shanahan got started. Gruden invited him to be a special assistant almost right out of college. Same with mcvay whose dad worked in the front office. hundreds of these positions are absorbed simply because they knew somebody. As the saying goes, some grow up on first base and you’d have to think many black athletes don’t have that luxury. These network hires don’t have to scrape through thankless admin jobs at a college football program. And in many cases, like with Stephen bellichick and Adam zimmer, they’re fast tracked to the top.
I am not surprised and that is similar to alot of corporate jobs and small businesses. It is usually not what you know as much as who you know. The company I work for there is VP whose whole family has been hired at one time and none of them had qualifications to do the job(s). This isn't unique.

Lots of different angles and takes on this particular subject.

Is it true there were 7 black head coaches a few years back?

This is a tough one for many people. And it's not nice telling an all-star that he or she is great at , but the strategy side of the sport and the leadership it takes to be a leader of stars doesn't usually require muscles, it's a brain sort of thing.

But I’m not going to sit here and deny that there might be one owner who doesn’t want him because of the color of his skin. Nothing is absolute. Teams could not like him for a number of different reasons and it could be any of those listed above combined.
I mean seriously that is some serious ****ing weak sauce. All those other teams have their legit reason but this one owner....man THAT guy! He is racist!

How about you provide evidence rather than just assuming someone is racist? Why does race HAVE to be a factor because 2 party involved is black?

Or you can realize that front offices place more value on coaching aspirants that demonstrate years of competency in moving from assistant to coordinator type roles in either college or pro levels in selecting HCs.

He is the owner. But yes the Hornets haven't been great but they have some young talent and have been pretty good the last couple of years.
