We need to extend Alex Smith

Alex played the game of his life and he was BETRAYED by the defense

Alex Smith dropped 44 points on the Colts and somehow still lost. Alex is a hero. 44 points can win you a SUPERBOWL. What happened to the best defense in the league? They sure weren't out there tonight. You could cut all of them and it wouldn't matter. What matters is having Alex.

I have little memory of Young. Other than the Super Bowl on DVD and the OWENS game.

Young seemed like he was a guy that would thrive in any decent situation.

Was labeled the most accuracy college QB by Gill Brant I think. Awesome athlete.

But then in the NFL as an old rookie, 24yo, he kinda sucked.

1st 671 passes...

53.4% 24 TDs 24 INTs
getting sacked a bunch

Alex Smith seems like he would of been great in the tutor for years under a HOF coach and QB role.

Smith in his life at QB had never been put on an island to take his medicine. HS and College it was manage a system efficiently.

In the NFL he was screwed over by his team and then he didn't allow himself to play loose and when the young QB mistakes come, learn from them.
He played knowing things were gonna F up and still tried to put toothpaste back in a tube anyhow.

That and injuries pushed his development backwards about 3 years.

There are light years between Bono and Grbac. Grbac was a very prolific passer, he just isn't worth a shit as a leader. Bono just dink and dunked to a probowl.

What is this obsession around here to win a playoff game? Only the Champ matters in pro sports. Number 2 may as well be last place, Just as Jim Kelly. We should want to be champ not settle for a playoff win. When Kap wins it all then he will be better than Alex.

Young and Smith are very similar in their approach to the game, too.

Mobile pocket passers that would kill you with their mobility if the defense s in man coverage with their back to the quarterback and everyone is covered.

Maybe all we need to get Alex Smith is a Jerry Rice.

Performance reviews are the next week. Obviously you give the jackoff a very poor performance review. No question about it.

How do you handle the other guy? Sounds like 90% of the people here want to give him a raise.
What actually happened is that the person in charge told the guy that put in all the work to take the weekend off and asked the useless bastard to finish the work.

Because you have to win a playoff game and then a few more to play for a championship.

When my child is born in a few months, I want him to be able to sleep through the night and walk immediately, but in order to have that happen he's going to take a few 4 hour naps each day and eventually crawl to reach that goal.

What makes him a horrible role model?

The guy's charitable efforts are amazing to be honest.

Anyone saying Smith needs to be extended is saying they think Smith can take us to the Super Bowl. Otherwise why would you extend him? You don't extend him to make us average or competitive.
