Is everyone forgetting what it was like this year BEFORE Thigpen?

Game ----- Pts , Opp, Def Rank

1st game - 10 pts @ Pats, 9th
2nd game - 8 pts Raiders, 23rd
3rd game - 14 pts @Atlanta, 11th
4th game - 33 pts Broncos, 27th
5th game - 0 pts panthers, 3rd
6th game - 10pts titans, 1st

12.5 ppg, 12.3 def avg rk

it looked like we would never score 100 pts this season

Thigpen becomes starter

7th game - 24 pts @jets, 16th
8th game - 27 pts buccs, 4th
9th game - 19 pts @chargers, 19th
10th game - 20 pts saints, 24th
11th game - 30 pts buffalo, 14th

24 ppg, 15 def avg rk

not bad for a guy who has only started 5 games in his life and who didn't face top competition in college.

NOT ONCE.

So, please back up your comment by finding a post. Shouldn't be hard, you're making it sound like everyone was saying it.

I say we take the best player available. Regardless if it's QB, DE, etc.

You're right. He's 7th round pick from Coastal Carolina. And if he starts 16 games for the Chiefs I'd bet a good chunk of change that his actual stats would be other worldly different than what they project out to be over the course of a season.

All I'm saying is that I'm not enamored over turning this franchise over to Tyler Thigpen in 09. He can be this years version of Frank Seurer. Then let's get on with finding a real QB.
No one is saying that, Will.

It's a simple case of "someone" not wanting to give the kid any credit whatsoever.

All because of ego.

thats a bad game for Brady, Manning, Manning, Brees..and the other really good qbs in the league..
You only have to go back to Trent Green to find a QB who could throw for 250 and 3td's and lose.

I fail to see the comparison between Brady, Manningx2 and Brees, and TYler Thigpen.

I remember a lot of people saying we shouldn't draft a DT, including Dorsey.

Well if we don't get a chance at Stafford or even if it's decided to pick someone else with our 1st pick we still need to draft another QB. To stop and say Thigpen is "the guy" with out a backup plan wouldn't be smart. That said there are some things I like about Thigpen though and he's put up some good numbers so he definately deserves a real chance to become the Chiefs QB. At this point there's just no way it should be handed to him though. Why not try and get the best QB we can instead of just take the first apparent decent one that comes along?

YOU have created that strawman, by claming that the kid is football Jesus.

If he's as good as you claim, he'll be gone.

You're putting all of your eggs in ONE basket.

Good luck with that.

Exactly.

Mecca is claiming people were saying we SHOULD NOT, because we already had Tank/Turk.
