Worse than any of the playoff losses during the Marty-era… the limitations of Steve Bono and Elvis Grbac getting exposed in those playoff heartbreaks were understandable. The (in)famous Christmas Day playoff loss to the Dolphins in 1971 was in the Divisional Round and didn’t involve blowing an 18 point lead.

Blowing a 21-3 lead to an inferior opponent at Arrowhead when your all world franchise QB collapses in the second half and can’t come through to win the game with a first and goal late in the 4th quarter and then getting the ball first in OT?

I can rationalize choking with Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac or Alex Smiff… not with Mahomes when he is the primary reason for the collapse.

Too bad we didn't get a cheap PI call on 3rd down to give us a 1st down. Would have been karma for the B.S. finish last month.

Gotta throw the ball to get PI.

Chiefs should have just thrown a fade to Kelce. That's indefensible if done right.

I feel like a Mets fan immediately after their 2015 season ended (a World Series loss). Telling myself "it's not that big of a deal, our future remains very bright, we still have Harvey, Degrom, Syndergaard and Matz locked into our rotation, all in their primes, all locked up, all coming into 2016 healthy...."

But knowing the Mets haven't sniffed the grand prize since then, knowing how fast your championship window can close, with no warning, no provocation....I'm despondent.

Then it occurred to me that the Mets at least knew their players were done playing that season after they lost. Our (key) players have one more game to stay healthy through: the damn pro bowl. So in addition to despondent, I'm nervous about injury.

Well, the Royals haven't sniffed anything since then either. So there's that.

it's a cop out to say the easy mahomes years are over

the game is going to get easier for mahomes the older he gets

the defense could get even better next season

the OL is going to be even better next season

the best years of the mahomes era could be right around the corner

I agree, the current window is closing with this roster of offensive stars. Need to start retooling a little bit, cuz maybe what, 1 or 2 years left? I dunno.

Patrick has never ever done what he did yesterday, so I'll say it was some strange ass anomaly. That tweet above that shows he had multiple open guys in the EZ and appeared to be staring right at them...that's surreal. I don't believe he was TRYING to lose, but my Lord, the Mahomes we know would have nailed Kelce or Pringle and scored there...instead he ran around like a chicken with his head cut off for some reason. It was other worldly.

No idea what happened to him, but I believe it was a once in a lifetime gift to the Bengals. He'll be fine. This one stings, and I gotta believe it stings him the worst. I do wonder what the hell happened in the locker room at halftime...
