Cowboys will release Amari Cooper

Damn. Would be amazing if this guy wants to chill with Mahomes for a year and build his reputation.

Would love to have Beasly here....he runs tight routes and is clutch! He won't break the bank either. He's not a #2 but it sure would be nice to have a reliable receiver for a change!

We could bring back Pringle and Robinson, too….but all of those options are not as ideal as adding Cooper. I wouldn’t be mad at adding Beasley, but Cooper is made for this offense.

The problem with Beasley is that gives us a size disadvantage in 3WR sets because Hill, Beasley and Hardman are all undersized.

There are incentives to trading for Amari, too.

He has 3 years left on his current contract with no guaranteed money past year one…so you could trade a late rounder for him and essentially get a 1 year try out and cut him if it doesn’t work out or restructure the deal so the first year cap hit is minimal and then sign an extension after year one that gives the team his services for 2 years at a cheap rate. Lots of flexibility in directions to go.

I know a lot of posters (this, pest, etc) might not like this idea, but if I’m in charge, I’m trying my best to assemble the best offense ever fielded while we have the window open with Andy and Kelce both at the top of their game to try to push all the chips in to win another Super Bowl or 2 and offset with the rising cap hits with draft picks and low dollar free agents.

I’d send Dallas a 2023 5th rounder for Amari and restructure his 20m 2022 cap hit while also signing Tyreek to a 5 year extension with lower cap hits the first 2 years, as well. You do those things while locking up Brown. At that point, every other resource you have in cap and draft picks can be allocated towards building a long-standing talented defense.

Mahomes
Kelce
Hill
Cooper
Fortson
Gray
Hardman
Clyde

Honestly, I don’t care how popular it is, this offense has a defined window before Kelce loses a step and Andy retires. Let them go out with a huge bang and another couple rings.
We had a very good offense and an 18 point lead and we still ****ed it up.

If we have learned anything it’s that we need a well rounded team. That’s how we won the Super Bowl 2 years ago.

I would love Cooper on a deal, but I’m not paying him a ton. No way. I’m using that money on a legit pass rusher and bringing Ward back so we can build this team to be talented everywhere.

This WR and DE class looks incredibly good. Take a talented fast WR and plug his ass in as the #3 option day 1. Then take a DE in rd 2 and stock your pass rusher with excellent talented rushers both as starters and off the bench.

Beasly was phased out in Buffalo. Why the hell would we want him here? He adds nothing to the Chiefs.

We don’t have any WRs under contract past Hill and Hardman and this playbook isn’t easy to hit the ground running with. A veteran like Cooper would be able to impact games right away. He’s also not guaranteed anything v past year 1 of the 3 remaining years, so you can definitely draft a WR to learn and take over for Hardman after next year without missing a beat. Rookie WRs need time to acclimate to the system and playbook, though. One absolutely shouldn’t be counted on as the teams #2WR going into the season in another year we will be trying g to get the #1 seed in the AFC.

Opposing defenses know that if they take Hill and Kelce out of the picture, nobody else is a threat. That’s why the offense stalls in some games. Nobody on this offense is respected after those 2.

Because it takes a zillion years for a WR to learn Andy's offense?

Where do people get this crap about Andy’s offense being like calculus for WR’s? That isn’t true. DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin were fine as rookies. They produced really well as complimentary players.

Tyreek Hill and Mecole Hardman had 6 TD’s as rookies. That’s really damn good for players that were both extremely raw coming out of college.

Our offense stalled bc Demarcus Robinson sucks and Byron Pringle isn’t much better. They aren’t very talented and could be covered with one player. You get a legit first rd WR in here with talent and it changes everything.

We don’t even need that WR to be an all pro. We have 2 HOF’s ahead of him anyway. You also have Hardman who I guarantee will be at his best bc, as Terez Paylor would say…”the contract season is undefeated”. He’s gonna be his best version bc he’s trying to get paid.

There’s a lot of talent and speed at WR this year. I’m extremely confident we’re taking one early in the draft. Probably first rd

Enough said. Get a super talented guy and have him cheap for 5 years while stocking up in the eventual Kelce decline

Our offense didn't stall because WRs weren't open. It stalled because Patrick flat-out didn't ****ing see them. Blaming the WRs is neglecting to see the truth.

Do the Chiefs need to add to the room? Of course, there are 3 free agents from the roster that finished the season and Hardman is one next year. Do they need to improve the quality of talent? Sure, they should always do that and it's clear that Robinson is maxed out and not quite good enough and Pringle developed too late to probably be worth any lengthy investment going forward.

All that said, I haven't expected Veach to go out and shop the top shelf at WR in FA and I also don't expect him to burn a round 1 pick on it. The Chiefs can get better than they have had for a middling investment. I think he'll retain much of his ammunition for addressing the D-Line, which was his clear point of emphasis.

I’m on record right now saying I think Veach will go hard trying to get deals done for Hill AND Cooper and will still go and draft another WR in the first 4 picks. It’s time to build an unstoppable offense and build the defense through the draft.

Veach protected his golden boy last offseason, now he’s going to give him weapons so when he has time to throw (which is often) the WRs will get open.

Cooper is PERFECT for WR2. Cost be dammed.

Amari Cooper would feast in this offense. Hardman is just as likely to fumble the ball as he is to be completely unaware that the ball is coming to him. Assuming he ran the correct play.

Hardman is fast, and if the guy grows a football brain will be dangerous, but right now he's a disaster waiting to happen.
When you consider Hardman is in the absolute best possible scenario for his skillset, it even is more sad. He's a good player, but he'd be even worse on ANY other team.
