What should Veach accomplish this offseason?

Obviously we will try to keep OBJ and Ingram. Clark and Hitchens are probably gone.
I want Matheiu gone but I’m not sure Spags will let Veach do that. That will be interesting.

I think our #1 need has to be another receiving weapon. Mahomes went through slumps and a big part of that was the shit from Robinson and Pringle. They just aren’t good enough when Kelce and Reek are double covered.

We need to start a youth movement at DL, secondary and WR. Kelce, Jones, Ingram and Matheiu (whether he stays or goes) are starting to get old.

Basically WR, pass rush and secondary. I want Veach to attack those areas hard.

What do you think?

Backup OL and bad OLs always seem to have good games against the Chiefs DL. Infuriating...

If Veach is going to let go of 5-6 defensive starters then perhaps it is a good time to change defensive schemes too. If Spags cannot field consistently good defenses in crunch time even with highly paid veterans then what confidence should we have with a young defense?

I do think Hardman is good for this offense but not a true #2 but another year he can step it up and be a better playmaker that we need. I'm not giving up on Hardman he has talent and blazing speed I think he just needs to focus more.

Dipshit. Who thinks like you do? My bad, you're obviously not thinking at all. Carry on.
The Offense put them up 21 to 3. 21 to ****ing 3 and had the Bengals on their heels.

Against a dog shit OLine and they couldn't even ****ing touch Burrow playing one dimensional. Get the **** out of here, Reerun JR.

Yeah the #2 DVOA Offense is the problem. lmao

Right. But it's the Offenses fault. The same Offense that was the reason they were ever playing today to begin with.

On offense…

Well, that wasn’t how any of us thought todays game would end, but it is what it is and it’s time to turn the page. I’m going to look into each positions areas of opportunity and we will look into options we may look into this offseason to fill the holes we have.

I don’t see a need at QB. Pat is Pat and Buechele will probably step into the primary backup role. It’s possible to spend a late rounder on a lottery pick if Veach sees someone with potential fall, but it’s unlikely to demand an investment of any substantial cost. Honestly, if Alex hadn’t retired I would be talking about bringing him back as QB2…but that ship has sailed.

At RB, we only go into the offseason with CEH under contract and his injury history has shown an investment at the position is needed. I’d honestly love to see McKinnon and Darryl brought back on cheap 1 year deals, but that may not be possible…likely will need to decide between the two. We would be wise to go into the offseason with the intention to add a starting caliber running back…possibly with the comp pick we get from Poles.

Wide Receiver is the area that needs a huge investment. The whole position group needs redone after Hill/Mecole. The best money Veach can spend this offseason would go towards a true #1 WR that would eliminate the ability for defenses to bracket Hill. The fact 2 passes in overtime went in the direction of a guy like Demarcus Robinson is sad. Veach needs to do with the WRs what he did with the OL. I’d love to see us target a guy like Odell or Michael Thomas in free agency and then hope a guy like Williams falls to us in the draft because of injury. That would make the offense completely unstoppable against anyone.

I don’t think the TEs need any investment to the position. I love how our TE group is built. Travis is obviously a HOF TE, but after him we have Fortson (who really started to be a weapon before getting hurt) and Gray really started coming on in the last few games. The position has a good chance at being set both short and long term. I see no investment need at this time.

The OL is set for high quality starters and depth from LT through RG. Niang didn’t exactly set the world on fire at RT, but he flashed the ability to play effectively on that side until getting injured. We would be fools to go into next year without a possible upgrade or at the least solid competition for Lucas. As noted, the rest of the line requires no immediate investment.

So, in short, I’d say the offense requires the following investments this offseason:

A FA WR with elite traits and a proven history of being able to be productive at this level in a similar offense. My preference (and I understand some not liking the choice) would be Michael Thomas (turns 29 in March). NO won’t be able to keep him, so he will be cut. That means he won’t count against us in the comp pick formula and losing Pringle to FA will count. That’s huge. It’s basically upgrading a position while also adding a 4th or 5th round draft pick the following year. I could see Veach offering him a deal similar to what we gave Sammy, but with cap increase since then factored in. He will be completely healed, fresh and was ELITE with a healthy Brees. He had 149 catches and over 1700 yards with Brees. He would step right into this offense and dominate.

Other options would be guys like

Devante Adams (turned 29 in December. He would be my top choice, obviously, but I doubt highly he shakes loose)
Chris Godwin (26 in February)
Odell Beckham (turned 29 in November)
Allen Robinson (29 in august)
Mike Williams (turns 28 in October)

If we were to add any of those guys, I’d think our offense would play at another level. At their ages, it’s possible we add one of them because you’d think they would want to play with MVPat and with a loaded WR class that’s up there in age, one will probably sign here.

I LOVE what Cincy did at WR for Burrows. It’s paid off because they overloaded at WR. I think that strategy would greatly benefit Mahomes. I think it would be amazing if they signed one of those guys and also use a first or second rounder on a WR with elite traits. Pat shouldn’t be throwing to guys like Robinson in crucial spots. I’d even be open to brining in Cordarelle Patterson to use as another gadget type weapon at a low price.

I’m not a big fan of using big resources at RB, but I’d love to see McKinnon return and for us to identify a Jamaal Charles/Kareem Hunt type talent in the 3rd-5th round to help the running game become more of a big play machine teams need to respect. I can’t help but salivate at what this current offense would be like with either of those guys in the backfield. I’m not sure who in the draft fits that description…but I’ll be watching the combine and looking into the draft for guys at running back that fit that description.

I think Wylie will get a nice FA contract, so I think Veach will look to add competition for Niang at RT in the draft to try to solidify the OL for the forseable future. If Wylies cost isn’t too much, I wouldn’t be opposed to him returning. He didn’t shit the bed out there when called upon. He was solid and is young. I can see Veach offering a vet RT a short term deal to solidify that spot.

Let Matthieu walk, cut Clark and offer Davante Adams a large contract.

We need a 2nd and 3rd receiver that can actually ****ing get open. I see a lot of hot takes about mahomes playing bad in these games but you watch the all-22 and every player other than Hill and Kelce is locked by single man coverage 85% or more of the time and can’t get any separation.

Also cut that POS Pringle. Half of this forum probably has more reliable hands.

Yep the defense basically gave up 16 and the offense was an unstoppable juggernaut in the first half. And they still lost. At home. To the Bengals.

Oh well. Not like it was to get to the Super Bowl or anything.

Yeah, you're a regular Bill Parcells with that big football IQ.
Yeah, the biggest problem defensively was, once again, an underachieving and vastly overpaid front four.

Clark and Reed have been disappointments and need to go. Nnadi is a jag, and Wharton and Danna are back-ups.

If you can't pressure with 4 in the modern NFL with the DPI rules as they are, you're in real trouble. Most of the year, we could not.

Need to fire Daly’s ass now. All the money in our DL, and they have underperformed every year under him. They never show up against “beat up OL’s”, that they should easily be able to take advantage of.

On offense, we need a WR2 in FA, RB in the draft, RT competition in draft/FA.

On defense, we need to reshuffle the deck. I'm not re-signing any of the big money guys other than MAYBE Ward. I like what Mathieu brings but it's no longer worth the salary. Cut Clark, Hitchens, Reed, Sorensen, Niemann.

Bring back Ogbah, Ingram, sign Marcus Williams, and draft D-line, LB, CB.
