Bills/ Bengals [cancelled - process in OP]

In case anyone needs it spelled out, we would play at a neutral site if the AFCCG ends up being Chiefs vs. Bills. All other scenarios abide by the usual rules (so any other game the Chiefs play will be at home).

Didn’t see that, but that sounds reasonable enough. Just make it clear to the Bills that the ball is in their court to operate within those parameters.

That may have already happened. We don’t know.

Fellas - many of these dudes barely know each other. There are 100+ players/coaches out there. 100 people isn't a large business, but if you work at one of those places, I guarantee you that many of the people in that company don't know the faces/names of every other employee.

And we've talked several times around here about how segmented locker rooms are and thus why leadership at multiple levels is so important. Mahomes is the leader of the offense, but the defense? Guys, he doesn't spend much time with the defense. He's not in the DL room. He's not running drills with those guys.

Damar Hamlin is a late round backup safety who's gotten reps this year due to injuries in the Bills secondary. Do I think a bunch of dudes in the OL room were tight with him? I do not. They spend less time with Hamlin than they do the trainer.

You know why football players/coaches usually call other players by their numbers instead of their names? That'd be why.

These guys are co-workers. Oftentimes co-workers that work completely independently of each other, especially during the season. Sure, he has friends on the team and I'm sure the secondary room is pretty shaken up. But at a point continuing to act like this guy was best buds with everyone on that team and his condition has left them all rudderless and adrift is just silly.

And man, I'm listening to some show yesterday and the idiot reporter tried to make it sound like Higgins and Hamlin had some close bond because "Higgins played at Clemons and Hamlin played at Pitt..."

FFS - this has moved into farce at this point.
What kind of shitty strawman argument is this? He wasn't tight with the OL so that changes something? He needed to be close with every guy on the roster for this to have made sense?

Stefan Diggs is crying. Josh Allen looks like someone killed his dog. But he didn't know Mitch Morse that well so the idea that the team was so shaken up is just major exaggeration!

It would be much easier if they just fix the Raiders win vs. the Chiefs on Saturday, be prepared to play our best and that still may not be good enough with the flag fest we are going to see...

If they don't play Sunday, I will agree with you. And then I'll be on the exact same side of where you all are.

But I really think they're gonna play that game.

The message from the Bills is pretty ****ing clear and to pretend otherwise is pretty ignorant.

They clearly feel/felt that football wasn't important while they don't know what's going to happen to Hamlin. That's fine, but can we stop pretending that it isn't their stance any why the game wasn't resumed Mon night or this week?

What a nut, equating 9/11 and having 4 months to reschedule, and comparing 3000 lost lives that effected the entire country over someone currently in critical but stable condition with a good chance to recover with little damage when he is woken up.

They are practicing today fwiw. Just a walkthrough, but that doesn't seem like a team that's not planning to play.

in words public, maybe not

but their actions indicate they did not want to play this game this week. This game shouldve been played (as originally suggested as early as Monday) by thursday night at the latest and then they couldve played their last game monday. That was about the best possible scenario. Not playing this game: huge error.

How close you are to someone impacts your capacity to move along, does it not?

And if Josh Allen is more greatly impacted by the incident than Mitch Morse - so what? Brett Favre's dad died the night before a game; pretty sure he was beat up about it. Didn't mean the league was obligated to call a pause while he sorted things out.

In order to take the extraordinary steps the league (and media/fans) have considered, it would be necessary to conclude that the Bills - as a WHOLE - are incapable of playing football.

There is absolutely no reason - given the practicalities and realities of these segmented groups - to believe that is the case.

What's happening now is similar to the mass hysteria panics you sometimes see where people start to fuel the emotions of their peers. The Bills are PUTTING themselves into a spiral here. They don't need to be here and to continue to prolong this thing does nothing but exacerbate it.

The league needs to make the call and move along.

At the very least, a huge portion of that team doesn't want to play Sunday.

There's too much noise pointing to that coming from Buffalo to pretend it isn't the case.
