And also sign Tyreek Hill early. Don't let that thing get to Berry / Houston level.

And just an aside but the next collective bargaining agreement needs to do something for the running backs. Their rookie contracts should be like two years less than everyone else. They are getting screwed.

The Chiefs should find a way to get Hunt money, Patriots-style.

He gone.

You're going to have $70M in cap space in 2020 when Houston is off this team, and that's with Berry still being here.

You could sign Hill and Jones to massive contracts with $25M cap numbers each in 2020, and there would still be 20M of cap space.

It's simply not going to be a problem. People keep acting like we have all this DOrsey dead cap money, and ALL THAT SHIT IS OFF THE BOOKS AFTER THIS SEASON.
This is true-however:
Your entire OL except Fisher, Schwartz and Erving are UFA. And I mean like everyone, all backups too.

Scandrick and Nelson. UFA.

Bailey and Jenkins. UFA.

I mean-none of them are Pro Bowlers, but there's a lot of spots to fill, and if you want to fill them with quality, it's gonna be a sizeable amount of money all added up. Like...it's not a problem, but we will be on a budget.

Yeah, me too. The good news is that this team is about to be absolutely ****ing primed for an influx of talent without losing any.

We can resign Hill and Jones and still make a push for guys like Darby and/or Lawrence in free agency.

Add to that having four top 100 picks, and the greatest QB who hath ever been born, and we are set up for a dynasty.

Not one person on that list I am concerned with re-signing. This staff has repeatedly shown they know what it takes to draft and develop OL.

We need another DL presence. We need an edge rusher. We need 2 starting caliber CB's. At least ONE S.

We need to re-sign or replace most of our stable of OL outside of Fisher and Schwartz.

There's a lot to do, but yes, having Mahomes and these offensive weapons does make it a do-able task to reload and rebuild on the fly.

As long as Grampa Sutton goes.

I don't think so. Not every move/contract is going to work out. At best you try to put the odds in your favor.

I would much rather give a contract to a Houston/Berry, where you have a player that played for KC on an undervalued contract, got their contract, and still gave it their all even if it was cut short by injury.

Compare that to signing a free agent from another team to a big contract who shows up just to collect the money and gets fat and lazy. That sucks more and reflects more poorly on the GM.

I would rather sign Tyreek to a contract that sucks because he gets injured and never plays up to it than a free agent that turns out lazy.

At least you would have paid money to someone who really helped the team out, even if it was in the past instead of the future.

I realize that either way it sucks to have a high priced player sitting on the sideline, but that is still my take.

my only concern is that it's a lot of turnover all at once. Like that's a lot.

I think Hunt is the best RB in the NFL. Yeah, I said it.

He has all the tools- tackle breaker, hurdles guys, good blocker, Homerun type speed, and a great receiving threat who can take it to the house.

What are you talking about? LDT is under contract through 2022. Erving through 2020. Reiter is a RFA and Wylie under contract through 2019. McKenzie learning on the bench.

Even the laziest of fatties makes a couple of plays in a season. Berry hasn't done anything at all for almost 2 years.

You turnover so much of your roster every year.

This year we turned over:

DJ
Hali
Peters
Smith
Fulton
Ehinger
Nunez-Roches
Bennie Logan
Terrence Mitchell
Charcandrick West

And many others. These guys started games for us last year.

Morse, Devey, and Allen are UFA. You're right, Reiter is RFA.

That's still thin. I hope Mckenzie is good, but I'm not counting on it.

None of these are in and of themselves a big problem, just saying that there are a lot of holes; and I too would let a lot of them walk, but you do have to have people to fill those holes.

I hear you, but that's literally every year. That's why you draft and develop, and why we have a pro personnel department. None of those dudes make a lot of money, nor will they be replaced by guys who do.

I honestly hope and believe that Jones and Hill will be extended sometime late this season. You don't want either guy walking into the offseason thinking about the last season of their contract. Just get it done, save some money, and keep this thing rolling.
