Asking because I saw some headlines. (I mean click bait) saying it was bad. Just wanting to hear the argument from a real person, who’s a chiefs fan.
I think the contract is pretty complicated and it remains to be seen how team friendly it is but it certainly is good for both sides. I'm happy w it.

$10M signing bonus and $63M guaranteed at signing while locking himself down for 12 years. Those numbers are incredibly team-friendly.

without a doubt the first few years was designed to be incredibly team friendly. If the contract stays as is its incredibly team friendly due to inflation. Mahomes has tons of leverage to eventually make this contract pay out more for him. And nobody would fault him for it. But the beginning of the contract shows he truly understands how his cap charge affects his teammates. he is taking a pretty big risk early in the deal in order to make this team friendly.

Given that he's pretty much screwing himself in the early years of the deal, the Chiefs front office better do a good job surrounding him with other players. If they fail in this, he would be well within his rights to play hardball later in the contract...such as that $60M of cash and cap hit owed in 2027.
