Mmright... because this has always been about one drive.

Without a defensive holding penalty on 3rd and 10 on the 2nd to last drive, we easily could have ended that game with three 3-and-outs. More importantly, it's a pattern we've shown all season long.

Well, look at it situation by situation.

The Pitt game this year, they jump out to 21-0. Then the next 2 Chief possessions they get put in long down and distances due to penalties. Punts. Then they score on 3 straight possesions with no penalties, then fumble.

Game should have been a 2 score win, but penalties and turnovers.

9er game was 35-10 at the half. I don't care to go back over that one, it was over then.

Cardinal game is 20-7 at the half, Cardinals go on a 7 minute TD drive right out of half time to make it a 1 score game. I'm guessing the Chiefs didn't do anything differently in the 2nd half as their first drive moved but a holding penalty and a sack slowed them down. Plus the Cardinal offense sucks so that's one that you're gonna win if you don't throw them the ball.

Same in the 2nd Bronco game, they got a big lead against a team with a bad offense. Why would you be aggressive against a good D when you don't have to be?

That's a philosophical question. I don't agree with that, but at least we agree we're doing things differently when we're ahead. That's my main point.

In my opinion, Reid starts to turn Mahomes into a game manager, and that's just not his game. Why stay aggressive vs a good D? If we're going three and out anyway and we don't trust our defense, then I'd rather go 3 and out swinging. Not on some 3rd and 4 safe checkdown pass well short of the sticks.

Because in that exact game he did what you want and the QB threw and interception?

So after my first year starting Qb just threw a pretty bad interception, he came back and threw it 3 of 5 plays on the next possession. But yeah.

He needs to learn to play that way sometimes. That's what you do to burn out the clock on a big lead. Take those 4 or 5 yard passes, complete them and get first downs.

Don't see too many "Tarkenton" references these days.

I say that all the time, even though I only have 43 years of frustration. Until they win it all again, a lot of people will always be hesitant to get over excited for anything because they know what could or will happen...because Chiefs.

I don't know the solution. I just know the problem. And pass/run % doesn't matter to me - Reid constantly forgot the run in the second half with Alex Smith at QB, and all of those 2nd halves would be considered conservative. You can be pass heavy but still ultra safe. Our Indy and Tenn 2nd half losses were pass heavy, but utterly predictable and safe.

It could be something else. I just feel like Mahomes is being coached to not make mistakes when we're up, which ironically leads to second-guessing which leads to mistakes. I just don't buy that he's ineffective because he's incapable of moving the ball in those situations. Mahomes is at his best when he's taking educated chances and confidently throwing into tight windows. Not managing games.

Looks like Sam thinks it's OK to fan shame a fan base that hasn't seen a superbowl since the 1969 season. Bad Sam.

The D gave up a 14 point lead in the 4th which was bad enough, but then add the awesome 2 point conversion and you have a complete meltdown.

Sure the O stalled at the most inopportune time.e but the D should have made 1 stop. Just one and we would have won the game.

But ok, let's put this loss on the O ...

In the 1st half of games the Chiefs have had;

69 Drives
45 Scores/65% score rate
30 TDs/43% TD rate
15 FG/22% FG rate

The numbers definitely change during the 2nd half. You can tell we have gotten the ball first in the 2nd half alot. We've had;

81 drives
35 scores/43% score rate
29 TDs/36% TD rate
6 FGs/7% FG rate

The number do show that we slow down on O in the 2nd half of games or teams are adjusting to slow us down, but I'm sure all teams would show that if they consistently have the lead. People can complain all they want but there is no way to keep the pace of the 1st half into the 2nd half. If we did that then we'd already have the 3rd most points ever scored and would be 30 points away from breaking the all time record. I cant believe anyone is going to complain about the offense at all, just seems to be alot of people that want to find different things to bitch about.

I'd like to see our D broken down by quarter. Why do we always come out playing well then turn to a wet noodle by the 4th Q? It's almost like we never adjust or something.

Well, we still have Pat so things are cool. I don't even need to get myself worked up about this year because I actually have hope that our window is greater than a single season now.

That being said, go win the ****ing Superbowl or I'm gonna burn all my Chiefs stuff!!!!!
