Is it time to replace Arrowhead with a dome?

The cold, crappy Dec/Jan. KC weather doesn't appear to provide any real home field advantage anymore.

At least the fans wouldn't be so miserable in a nice climate controlled facility. No more thousands of no shows or leaving at halftime on bad weather days.

I get the macho argument of "football is meant to be played in the elements".......but that was good for the 70s and 80s, before Sunday Ticket and online streaming sites.

These days, the home experience is so good already (sunday ticket, big screen TVs, etc.), that when you throw bad weather into the mix - all the more reason for some to stay home.

For me personally, I dont want our team to lose any advantage it has by playing in a downpour or ice/snow storm (or even wind for that matter like the raiders game).

The Cardinals stadium is a fantastic place to see a game. Very similar amenities and look/feel to Arrowhead (especially in club).......and they have the added bonus of the retractable roof.
Our offense didn't miss a beat apart from some guys occasionally losing their footing. Our guys knew exactly where they were supposed to be according to the play, and we executed. The Donks were reacting to everything, and that led to them being way more slowed down by the elements than we were.

Mahomes apparently doesn't give a shit if it's snowing. He claims he likes it. He's used to the wind from playing in Lubbock and now at Arrowhead.

We've seen two kind of extreme winter stormy-type games from Mahomes. The Colts playoff game and now this past one against the Donks. And he was simply brilliant in both of them.

As this team is currently built with this QB and this system, we're I think actually at an ADVANTAGE in the elements, believe it or not.

You put the Chiefs in a dome downtown kiss tailgating goodbye. There simply isnt enough cheap property downtown to be able to have open parking so you are looking at multi level garages that are a nightmare to get out of. Maybe huge land by downtown airport in the harlem district but it would require a shuttle to the stadium. I dont like the idea but if the Clarks want it they will get it and we will pay for it.

So much wrong and lack of vision in this post. You raze the useless downtown airport, divert the river in an aesthetically pleasing manner if need be, and profit from a modern facility surrounded by a scenic skyline on the hill to the south.
I've surveyed that entire zone and there is PLENTY of useable land for the structure and parking. Plus, you're downtown without having to go IN to downtown.
And finally, you get away from the One Arrowhead Drive curse. And make NO mistake; that current land and building are eleventy billion percent cursed, and the complete history of the franchise proves it. AND, as great as he is, Mahomes WILL NOT break it. You'll see.

So let's stop ****ing around and build a proper castle for the king.

I am still trying to figure out where he got the idea the plans for the original rolling roof was gonna be made out of concrete. Also Kimo apparently doesn't realise one of the words most dangerous fault line cuts through the boothill of Missouri New Madrid fault line look it up.

Oh yeah I still hate the idea of a dome and downtown location.

We're at an advantage in everything lol. Being in the snow doesn't really change anything. Its not like Mahomes isn't the best QB in football when it's sunny or if we put a roof over the stadium.

A dome would be nice, but it would also lack the same "Arrowhead" personality, IMO.

Screw it. I love Arrowhead. Leave it the way I found it 40 years ago.
Lolwtf? We've won 1 home playoff game in 26 years. What's this Arrowhead playoff personality are you talking about?

Bold idea but re channeling the Missouri River which by the way is a
Federal waterway that would never happen for one due to the railroad airport and levee district and impact on NKC and Riverside. The Feds would fight that tooth and nail.

Where in my post did I mention record?

In fact, if you read the thing with any degree of discernment it'd be clear that I was talking specifically about the atmosphere or certain stadiums, and I included Arrowhead along with the others. And Arrowhead has always been one of the tougher places for visiting teams to play, mostly because of the noise, but also because it's an outdoor venue, inviting whatever the weather brings to the game. And that's what I meant about its personality.

Let me try to help you out here.

No one wants to go to cold, snowy outdoor stadiums in the winter, for obvious reasons. There are no indoor stadiums that anyone is afraid of going into, with the lone except of the Saints Superdome. And the Superdome's only fear factor is the noise.

All the other stadiums in the NFL that teams don't want to play in are outdoor venues, like Arrowhead. And Lambeau. And Soldier Field. Etc.

And no one cares bout what our record is in the playoffs, except overly pessimistic fans. Coaches and players only look at the challenges of playing in someone else's stadium.

And every player/coach knows that Arrowhead is very loud, and very cold and very windy in December/January. With a high possibility of snow, etc.

And now our QB has proven without a doubt that he lovers playing the snow.

And who gives a rat's ass what our record was BPMII in the playoffs? Because I assure you that no one in the NFL cares at all. What they're looking at is Arrowhead has always been a tough place to play, worse late in the year, and now we have a QB that plays just as well in the snow as he does in 80 degree weather.

Think that's a HFA? More importantly, think the rest of the NFL sees that as an advantage?

Like anyone ever said, "Arrowhead is a tough place to play September thru November, but it's a walk in the park when it gets really cold, windy and snowy in December and January . . ."

I mean the biggest advantage we have is our fans and how loud they are. They're not quite as loud when 25% of them are missing and the rest are wearing gloves which muffle their clapping and seat banging and can't yell as loud because of the cold/wind.

Imagine how much louder Arrowhead would be if the sound couldn't escape in the open air.

Fine, then add on those stupid shelf things they have in SEA to bounce the sound back down to the field. They'd even keep a little of the snow and wind off the seats. They'd probably just look dumb.

But I'm basically against domes. Dome teams are fair-weather teams; they can't win consistently outdoors. Check the Vikings who are significantly worse outside, Saints ditto, Falcons, and so on. I don't want our team to become a bunch of quitters just because it gets cold out. Screw that.

I want my team so hardened by the elements that they'd be willing to fight it out in Antarctica in winter during a blizzard.

You do know that it was re channeled before right for better navigation? The Liberty Bend area 210 hwy and 291 those bluffs you see to the north of 210 is where the old missouri river once was. Weston, Iatan, Atchison and around St Joe has all kinds of boundary lawsuits due to dredging and rechanilizeing the Missouri River. As you drive 45 hwy Weston, Iatan and Atchison the bluffs you see used to be the Missouri river. Same with Nkc the bluffs near kcmo waterworks. So what the hell are you talking about?

I missed all of this. However, I'm curious: who exactly called for re-channeling the MO? The U.S. government? The state? Kansas City?
