Ex Bronco running back thinks he deserves gold jacket

Jamaal Charles hasn’t officially retired from the NFL, but at age 32, and after playing just two games in 2018, it seems unlikely he’ll play again. If he’s done, he’ll be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2024. He thinks he should get in.

“I mean, some of my numbers look way better than some people already in Canton,” Charles told TMZ.com.

One particular number is the reason Charles has a chance: He averaged 5.38 yards per carry over his career, the best for any running back in NFL history.

“That tells you what type of player I was,” Jamaal said. “I gave it my all. Every time I touched the ball, I averaged six yards a carry basically.”

Charles is, along with Jim Brown and Barry Sanders, one of just three players in NFL history to have five seasons with at least 1,000 rushing yards and 5.0 yards per carry. But Charles only had five good seasons in his career; in his other six seasons he never even reached 400 rushing yards. Five seasons will probably not be enough to get him in Canton, as spectacular as those five seasons were.

And Ladainian Tomlinson was one of the worst postseason running backs in NFL history.

Tomlinson>>>>>>>>Davis

If Terrell Davis was able to get into the Hall. I see no reason to allow this former broncos into the hall.

Isn't that the reason Nate Burleson was touting Julian Edelman as a HoF'er this past playoffs? Surely nobody thinks Julian Edelman's HoF worthy. So why should Terrell Davis have been? Because he worked at the NFL Network so he got in. That's how Kurt Warner got in too.

If Nate Burleson called Edelman the best postseason WR in NFL history, he's a moron.

Per my chart, the only comparables to Jamaal are Robert Smith and Wendell Tyler, and even they aren't even close. Jamaal easily trumps Priest and that Olandis Gary lookalike. He represents a very different model for the Hall of Fame voters to consider, and I don't think they do that very well. They just want to vote in guys who are on TV and/or guys with 12,000 yards or more, even it took them 4,000 carries to do it. (I'm looking at you, Bettis.)

What does bob gretz say about this matter

I think he might have a vote? I forgot how the voting thing is designed for HOF but it seems like the voters influence the other voters so jamaal might need a guy pumping him to the ballot holders

I'm starting to think that it's time to redesign the process. The players have historically been voted in by sportswriters, but I don't think sportswriters have the knowledge and influence that they used to have. Plus, there seems to be a bias to voting in players who are now working in media or people who were easy to interview.

I want a process where fans can take a knowledge test and put their name into a drawing. The HoF will then draw names of one or two fans per team, give them a second test to prove their knowledge, and have them vote on it.

The sportswriters have really fallen down on their job in recent years.

Priest Holmes category? What's the difference between him and Terrell Davis. How the **** does Terrell Davis get into the HoF.

The HoF is a joke now.

There is more to RB than just breaking big runs.

Marcus Allen barely averaged 4 YPC in Kansas City but I'm sure you won't talk shit on him.
I dont have a clue about what kind of offense the Steelers ran back then, but I do know that JB isn't a HOF worthy back. Larry Johnson had a similar season. Im not sure how having 375 rushes and 1700 yds in a season qualifies someone for the HOF. Sure he was durable, but when you average between 3.2 and 3.8 YPC 9 out of 13 seasons you don't deserve to be in the hall of fame. It's not the Hall of Longevity with Terrell Davis.

Marcus Allen was also a receiving threat as well and averaged damn near 10 TDs a year while he was here. Bettis averaged 7 combined TDs a year. JB averaged a TD every 39 touches. MA averaged a TD every 25 touches. JB wishes he had half the talent Allen did. Jerome Bettis was just a slow fat shit. Hell, you could put any O lineman/D lineman in the backfield and get the same production as Jerome gave you.

On average it took him 39 touches to score a TD, Jerome Bettis that is. That guy sucks.

JC 25 is my all time favorite chief so of course I'll say he should go in the hall..I just wish he had a chance to play with Mahomes and a decent line and not absolute trash most of his career
