We lost a great Chiefs fan today
My brother of 39 years died in his sleep early this morning from an apparent heart attack. It came as a total shock to us all. He was a great brother, a loyal Chiefs fan and a father of 4 great kids.
If you're the believing kind, please say an extra prayer for my brother's kids (Amanda, Chris, Christine, Zach), his wife (Tammi) my mom (Beverly) and dad (Larry). Last edited by Rukdafaidas; 11-01-2004 at 08:24 AM.. |

Very sorry to hear about your brother. My prayers go out to you and your family. 38 is WAY too young.

As hard as it is, try to take this one day at a time. It is OK that Zach is not grasping things yet. It is going to take a long time for the shock and numbness to wear off. As much as I hate to tell you this, I feel it is important. It will be 4 to 6 months on average for the full gravity of what has happened to be felt. Everyone in your family needs to take their own time to deal with this loss in their own way. Unfortunately, their is no time line for Grief. There is no wrong or right way to approach it. Some in your family will accept the loss quicker than others. But that does not mean that those who take years to 'recover' are handeling it improperly. Grief is a roller coaster that sometimes can take years to get under 'control' (Trust me, I know) The best that I can offer you and your family is that everyone needs to be supportive of each others Grief and don't try to 'get over' this loss too quickly. Your brother has made an impact on many people's lives and each will handle the loss in a different way. Patience, acceptance and faith are pivotal in this terrible time. I wish you and your family the greatest strength possible in your time of despair. May God be with you and yours, Big K |
