The reason for the poll is that it occured to me that the salary cap is very counter to the unregulated free market capitalism model that conservative types tend to endorse.

I was curious if among KC fans, whether preferences fell along political lines.

My theory is that NY Yankees fans would have substantially more votes for the latter 2 options.

You're painting capitalism with a pretty broad stroke there.

I don't know too many conservatives that endorse employees being able to blackmail them into pay raises that would put them out of business.

I was pretty narrow in my painting with the "unregulated free market capitalism". There are a lot of people that believe in that, and argue from that perspective on a regular basis.

On the other hand, you seem to be painting pro-athletes with a pretty broad brush yourself with the unqualified "(athlete employees who) blackmail (their employer) into pay raises that would put them out of business" statement.

I think the system has to work that way primarily to eliminate the financial barriers that preclude a team from fielding a competitive product.

The NFL is hardly and open society to begin with...it's not like George Soros could build a football team and get it to play against the other NFL teams, so first, the NFL as an organization has 32 franchises and it's in the NFL's best interest if those franchises dont eat each other alive killing their viable product.
