Damn. You know the NFC sucks when the NFL's 16th toughest schedule is hardest among NFC teams.

The Chiefs get screwed as usual.

Makes me wonder how the Eagles get one of the easiest schedules even though they were in the Super Bowl.

Its based off of 2004 W-L record. I predict the final SOS will be much different from this list.

Yep...the Chiefs would have been an absolute dynasty had they been in the NFC all these years.

It's set years in advance... you could look up our schedules now through 2009, your previous year's record only affects two games on your schedule. It's a very rigid system, the NFL isn't giving anybody any breaks.

Not that it really means alot, but how does Miami with the 2nd worst record have the hardest schedule and Philly who was in the SB get the 2nd easiest?

Because it's set years in advance. You play your division opponents twice home and away, then you rotate playing one AFC division and one NFC division. When they re-aligned the divisions a couple years ago they set this rotation in place through 2009. This makes up 14 of your 16 games. The other 2 games, you play the two teams in the other two divisions in your conference that finished in the same place you did.

For instance, this year the Chiefs play the AFC West teams twice each obviously, they play the entire AFC East, and the NFC East. That's 14 of our games, the other two games are Houston and Cincy, the other 3rd place teams in the AFC... that's the only part of the schedule affected by your record.

In 2006, we'll play the AFC West twice each of course, the AFC North, and the NFC West... plus the teams in the AFC East and South that finish in the same place (1st through 4th) that we finish in this upcoming season. We could win the Super Bowl or finish dead last in the league this next year, and we'd still play DEN, OAK, SD x 2... plus STL, ARIZ, SEA, SF, CIN, PIT, BAL, CLE.... plus one AFC east and AFC south team. That is our 2006 schedule regardless...

Makes sense. In our division we had 2 playoff teams so that's 4 games. We play the AFC East so that's 2 more playoff teams including 14-2 NE. We play the NFC East which means 12-4 Philly.

7 playoff teams 4 games against teams that won at least 12 games.
