Not all that unrealistic. I think if Johnson falls past Dallas, he very well could be ours.

I think this scenario is about as likely as the 9ers winning the super bowl next year, but I'd sure like it.

I don't follow the draft threads all that much. Has the question been asked: is Johnson Gun's type of player?

I think that's a great question. It's hard to say, really. The knock on him is he runs around blocks and isn't very physical, so that doesn't sound like a Gun type of player. On the other hand, Gun said he wanted to add explosiveness to the D, and DJ does that. I think with our need at OLB, it would take about 5 seconds to run his name to the podium if he's there. |

I could see DJ falling to 14, but Carolina papers have already reported that John Fox told DJ that they guarantee they will draft him if he falls to 14. Their current WLB is Mark Fields, who is getting old and had cancer a year or two ago. No way DJ falls to us, and I would rather have Thomas Davis anyways.

Outside of that....if you don't want to read more mocks, why the heck did you open the thread? ![]() |

Johnson is taking a lot of crap in the media the passed few weeks over not being a good tackler and not taking on blockers...So it is certainly possible. Even after the Surtain trade I think they should still draft defense but now they can take best defensive player available. I would rank them like this:
1) Thomas Davis 2) Carlos Rogers 3) Derrick Johnson 4) Antrel Rolle 5) DeMarcus Ware 6) Shawn Merriman 7) Matt Roth They come away with any of those guys, especially the top 4 they will be doing well IMHO. Most overrated defensive player that would make a lot of sense for the Chiefs to bungle the pick on: Marcus Spears

We'll know for sure after we see what Cleveland, Houston, and Detroit do. If they all pass on him...I'm certain he'll be there. Merriman or Ware looks like a no-brainer to the Cowboys. Cleveland can't pass up Braylon Edwards IMO...and Detroit needs a CB or a OT first....but a Julian Peterson LB clone may be too much for Mariucci to pass up...especially since Mariucci coached Peterson...and wants a similiar player.

I want a player who a great playmaker and is known as the best tackler in this draft.....not a guy who moves well but goes for ankle tackles. DJ goes sideline to sideline well, but has horrible tackling technique, not exactly the kind of guy we need.

Even if he is available at 15, no guarantee we would take him either.
