Pappa John's type pizza recipe
Damn good. Note. The recipes at this site mimic the pro's. The people there are a bit fanatical. Pizzahut and others in there too.

If you really want it to taste like Papa John's make sure you don't cook it all the way through.
I swear to God, everytime I have one of those I end up eat a pizza that is essentially "dough with the fixins."

They have some others too. Like vintage PizzaHut thin and crispy, Pizza Inn and some other strange pizza places from around the country. NY pizza too.
Now I know why my pizzas never turned out like the big pizza chains. You can't even buy the flour at the grocery store. There are some nuts that actually build a special brick pizza oven like in italy. |

I work at Papa Johns have been for over a year and trust me youd rather eat at ours then Pizza Hut or Little Caesars I've worked for both of them and the other two dont require thier employees to clean out the pans they make pizzas in so grease just sits papa johns is the best.

I think Papa John's Pizza is the equivalent of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. Pizza with flavor minus the grease. Who'd a thunk? |

I didn't think it was such a big deal until I worked at Minsky's Pizza later in high school. Let's just say that they are MILES apart when it comes to cleanliness and "respect" for the customers. |

I don't care how clean it is. It still sucks when you sink your teeth into hot dough.
Someone told me that the reason this is, is that Papa Johns puts their pizzas on some kind of conveyor belt that takes it through an oven. Sometimes, to get the pizzas out faster, especially when busy, they pull them out a little early, thus the gooey center. Was I lied to? Why is the local Papa John's doughey? (and there are 2 in my town, both of which don't cook their pizzas all the way through.)

Papa Johns does use a conveyor belt, but I don't think we ever took them out early and I don't remember any especially doughy pizza. Maybe your local Papa Johns does things differently. |
