Jets | About to Sign Law?

Dave Hutchinson, of the Star-Ledger, reports the New York Jets have reached an agreement in principle with free agent CB Ty Law (Patriots). The multi-year deal is contingent on Law passing a physical. One source called it a "done deal." The deal is believed to include a signing bonus of $5 million to $6 million and average roughly $6 million per season. It is said to be incentive-rich and heavily backloaded. Law will come to New York for a physical early next week. At issue had been the back end of the deal. The Law camp is said to have agreed on bonus money and first-year salary early on in the talks. Law was reportedly seeking a deal averaging between $6 million and $7 million per season.

All I can say is that if he passes the physical I hope he still is not healthy by September 11th. I was hoping he would sign with the Lions.

I disagree. The guy haven't played football in a long time, and I don't think he will be 100% healthy or effective in week 1.

75% of Ty Law is better than 100% of any WR we have.

That said, I think Pennington's health in week 1 is far more important than Law's.

100% of Champ is not as good as 100% of Ty Law. Champ just runs with you, Ty Law will beat the crap out of you at the line of scrimmage, then run with you. But that's just my opinion, I've always been a huge Ty Law fan. All things being equal, I would've chosen him over Surtain, but health issues forced our hand there. I think we haven't heard the last of Ty Law, but I've been wrong before.
