Yeah, well, thanks for posting this, I guess...
Any chance this is a joke or something? My already-dwindling faith in our Head Coach continues to plummet... |

i think what we sometimes forget and obviously have overlooked here is that gun doesnt trust the press anymore ( ie the whole retirement blown out of proportion deal)
imo...he is just trying to get through an interview quickly before he has to go throw up from answering all of our local press's questions about jimmy raye, retirement, etc. and another thing......has anyone ever heard a coach anywhere when asked about a new qb starting against them said anything but "we arent going to do anything different"????? and another thing while on this subject: does anyone really expect gun or elvis or carl to come out and say that raye sucks???? how productive would that be for team morale??? |

Chiefnj:
I'd like to hear from an MD or Psych. on this BB regarding Gun's behavior/reasoning and if he is showing signs of sleep deprivation. It has been well documented the hours he puts in and the lack of sleep. IMO His responses and decision making has shown a steady decline in the last 4 to 6 weeks. I've read some things regarding sleep deprivation that leads me to believe that Gun MIGHT be suffering from it. B^2 |

b-squared,
His decision making has been terrible the last 4-6 weeks, that's for sure. But I am not sure it is in decline. Looking back at last season:

we lost the opener at Chicago when he abandoned the run after telling us all about the run-the-ball philosophy that offseason.
he never did seem to throw for 500 yards (or at least try to) when there were 8 men in the box.
he consistently removed the starting RB after a drive or two regardless of how well he was playing
he changed away from productive formations (ie abandoned 2TE against TB)
he made no attempts to adjust his gameplan on several occasions (notably against Seattle)
the defense got either fatigued, unmotivated or even more poorly coached towards the end of several games which cost us at least the games against the Colts and Raiders and should have cost us the NE game.
he filled us with crap about how he won us the Denver game, by motivating TV to run back that punt because he had "put an arm around him and challenged him in the week prior to the game"
he blamed Parker for the Indy loss which was as reprehensible as Grbac calling out his receivers a couple of years ago.
You might argue that JR or Kurt was to blame for some of those problems, but after all, if Gun is a capable HC he should be able to fix those problems. Maybe Gun's decision making is going downhill.......but that's a scary thought. |

I'm not a doctor, but I am (not so proudly) a former meth addict, and I can tell you that Gun is having problems with one of 2 things: 1) lack of sleep 2) drugs He's gone looney... ------------------ Parker ChiefsPlanet Administrator Jimmy Raye for President...anything to get him out of Kansas City More Moreau |

I've been asking myself the same question.
Isn't Gun the guy that made halftime adjustments so well that his D set an NFL record in 1997 by shutting out opponents in 8 consecutive second halves? Isn't he that guy that had 2 games as a DC (Seattle and Oakland) where ther total offense allowed for an entire game was UNDER 100 yds? Isn't he the DC that guided the Chiefs D to scoring titles (fewest points allowed) in the NFL in `1995 and 1997? And last year, KC gained more offensive yds (total offense) from scrimmage than any Chiefs team since 1967. So... Either he's just having a bad hair day and will get this team on track, or the sleep deprivation coupled with the enormous stress of being a HC has seriously debilitated him. I am hoping that he will try to rest more and stress less. Even God rested on the 7th day... KCJ |
