UD - what's this index based on. Seems awfully bizarre for a 4-3 team to be ahead of the anyone in the top 5.

What the hell is the Dunkel Index?
Sounds kinda like a German S&M equipment rating service. |

I found it kind of interesting that Sagarin ratings have the Chiefs above the Rams, with the Chiefs being in 10th place.
Here is the link to it. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/nfl00.htm ------------------ bk |

http://cbs.sportsline.com/u/football/nfl/2000/dunkel/index.html I snipped this expalnation for you: "The Dunkel Index is a progressive statistical formula that has historically proven to be an accurate measurement when applied to the performance of an organized group of athletes versus another organized group of athletes. It is the one of the few known formulas to incorporate the strength of one team’s schedule against another’s. The Index basically reflects all the intangibles that can affect the performance of any team, on any given day, regardless of the circumstances. The keys to the Dunkel Index are found in knowing that it is a "statistical" formula with an emphasis on a team’s recent performance. Most mathematicians and statisticians will support the fact that the larger a "sampling" is, the more accurate the projections that are derived from that "sampling" are. The Index is now enjoying an almost 70 year history in College Football and a 62 year history in Men’s College Basketball. And, just for the record, The Dunkel College Football Index enjoyed an 86.9 percent raw accuracy record for the 1997-98 Bowl Season."<P> |

Ryan Early's 'scientific poll' also has us ranked #1...
http://www.sportstalk.com/nfl/ultimate/index.shtml How embarrassing to be scientifically #1, but can seem to get the job done on the field. |

NFLtalk's powerrankings has the Chiefs ranked #10. They also quote,"The Chiefs will probably win at Seattle, but will drop three or four in the row afterwards."
NFLtalk probably picked the Chiefs to beat St.Louis... ------------------ Boyce Berry If you hit'em hard, You'll WIN!!! <GC> |
