What's the story on Christian Ballard?

4* DE out of Lawrence, #10 DE in the nation according to Scout.

From what I recall, he committed to Kansas early on but then switched to Iowa.

I'm not sure what position he plays in HS, but I know he was originally recruited as a Tight End. He is a great athlete but will need some time to gain some football knowledge.

BTW: The Hawkeyes lost a good one in Brian Smith.

I think Ballard will end up on the DL. He's a great athlete, but I don't see him as a TE. I think he has NFL prototype SSDE written all over him.

Thanks guys. There's been alot of talk about him moving to offense and I wanted to find out what that was about.

And yes, losing Smith hurts. Even still, this was an exceptional class for the Hawkeyes. The only thing they didn't get was a big-time RB.
