The Chiefs' cover 2...
I can think of two reasons why the Cover 2 works far better than the man defense of the Saints against a powerhouse QB like Manning.

Reggie Wayne

These guys score when they sniff daylight, which the deep Cover 2 snuffs out. It opens up a lot of checkdown passes, however, but hopefully that's where our DEs and LBs can pick up the slack.

Herm Edwards said before last year's playoff game "If they have to beat us with Dallas Clark, so be it, but they're not going to beat us with Harrison and Wayne."

Of course, that's moot because it was our own offense that beat us, but at least throughout most of the game we had them under wraps, and that's exactly why.
