Anybody else have to pay for Rain?

I just paid my yearly irrigation bill of $132.24. For this fee I will receive 3 hours and 45 minutes of irrigation water in my yard on a bi-weekly basis through the brutal Phoenix spring and summer months.

Without irrigation my fuit and nut trees as well as my grass would be as dead as old dad's hat within the first week of summer.

Seems kinda' weird to pay for the equivalent of rain. Anybody else irrigate?

You actually have a lawn there? The only place I recall seeing grass there is one patch in a median as I was leaving the airport and on the golf courses.

Nope here in Ohio we get plenty of rain, too bad I can't give you some of the extra that we recieve.

Paid to have an irrigation system put in, a well drilled, and now I pay annually to have the system started up and shut down. It still amazes me how much I've spent/spend to have green grass. Oy.

I would say, piss on green grass. In fact, I have soo many trees in my yard, the sun doesn't even really GET to my grass anyway. Sp. what I avoid in mowing, I more than make up for it, with leaf raking.

Yep, you hit it on the head. I live in an old section of town where there are still lawns. Most houses in this godforsaken desert have dirt or gravel instead of lawns. Some of them even paint the gravel green, can you believe it?

I refuse to let my boys grow up without a lawn to play on. We have an acre of grass with orange, grapefruit, peach, pomegranite, and pecan trees.
It all goes underwater twice a month.

It may cost more up front, but you could always go with synthetic lawn. Ton of companies doing it in PHX.
