my avast antivirus program doesn't show how much has been scanned and starts over and over again...
the first time i ran it last night it showed a warning that i have a virus and then got hung up...
my problems seem to have started after i installed some addons from the mozilla site and tried to configure them, including NoScript ...
sites that had embedded java scripts that worked before stopped working, with a message that java script was not enabled (or was disabled)...
i disabled or removed all the addons to firefox and nothing changed, same error message when i tried again to view a site with java script...
i also tried to use system restore to a point about 2 weeks ago, and still no improvement...
any suggestions?

update: since i restarted the pc, avast has been doing a scan which looks normal so far... 47% completed...
88% completed and still working normally sfaoct...
further update: avast has completed its scan with no viruses found...
so now i get to go back and try to figure out this java script problem...

Must not be a virus then.

You can always try the free scanner and remover on www.trendmicro.com. It is an online virus and spyware scan and remove engine.
