Go Tigers! Can't believe they are in the Elite Eight. Great season. Way above expectations.

Mike Anderson set for lifetime contract at Mizzou with a win today.
Amazing that this glass ceiling has remained intact for the program, but it would be nice for it to end this afternoon. |

Once again, the result kind of doesn't matter. Win or lose, this team has done more for this fanbase than anyone could have imagined. Missouri is playing with house money and without a single bit of pressure. They're not supposed to be here. If UConn fails to make the Final Four, some will call it a failed season. If Missouri loses, it's still one of the greatest seasons in school history.
That said, you're on the brink. To get this close and fall short, well, it might hurt more than losing in the first round. Whether I believe or you believe or Dick Vitale believes, these kids believe they not only can win this game, but they believe they will. The confidence this team has played with all season is simply unflappable. They have no doubt they are going to be cutting down the nets. A little confidence added to a little talent is pretty dangerous. As far as the keys to the game, real simple: Make UConn play your game. Run the hell out of Thabeet and Robinson and Adrien. Find out if they can keep up. Maybe they can. Maybe. Secondly, guard the HELL out of AJ Price. In the first two rounds of the tournament, he was the best player in it. He wasn't that great against Purdue. Which Price are the Tigers going to get? If it's the one from the first two rounds, it's going to be incredibly difficult to win. If it's the one from last round, Missouri can do this. So anyway, this game, it's everything you've EVER hoped for as a fan of this program. It's a group of kids that is easy to root for, a coach who has practiced what he's preached, who has worked his tail off to get here. It's a group that's not supposed to be here, but is. And given all that, nobody's giving them a chance. I like those odds. In the end, I could break down every position and tell you all about the technical basketball aspects of this matchup. But that's not what today is about. Today is about a team, a coach, a school, a fanbase that finally gets its day in the sun. Why will Missouri win? Because somebody somewhere has a hand in it. I'm not trying to get philosophical and tell you God, or whatever you believe in, cares who plays in the Final Four. I'm just telling you I've been watching things happen for this team that just haven't ever happened around here. Zaire gets a friendly roll against KU, the path opens wide in the Big 12 tournament, Lazar Hayward steps out of bounds, Marcus Denmon makes a 65-footer (may have been 70). I'm telling you folks, I really think this is Missouri's year. They could put the Cleveland Cavaliers out there and I wouldn't bet against this group of kids right now. I could be wrong. If I am, so be it. This has been one hell of a season and a thrilling ride. A loss won't change that. But a win, well, I hope by tonight I could come up with the words to describe my feelings.
