I got to fire a mounted 50 cal once. It's amazing what a round that size will do to a seagull.

Up at 415, chow at 5, busses moved to the range at 615, got here at 7, I've done nothing since but smoke a couple cigs, and smell the gun powder in the breeze. Hurry up and wait! LOL.....

Blasting the .50 off of the turret of an M1 has a look, sound and smell you will never forget. I would hate to be on the receiving end of that bitch. The 240 is rock solid too... damn fine piece of weaponry. Enjoy your day blowing shit up!

The M-2 and 240 are cool, but my favorite is the Mk-19. I had a convoy team in Iraq, six humvees with two M-2's, three 60's (yes really, our armory belonged to a reserve battalion), and a Mk-19 on my truck.

I drove a deuce and a M577 . . . neither of which you can mount a weapon on. All you can do is either drive like hell or dismount and run when you come under attack.
I can guarantee getting strafed by an A-10 in the New Mexico desert (even if it was an exercise) is an experience I won't forget. I am so glad those things are on our side.

Ha, cool. Enjoy.
After firing the .50 Cal, shooting the M-60 was like playing with a wind up toy.

My first term while on active duty I became quite familiar with the MK-19, how can you not like a grenade machine gun, with a cyclic rate fire of 325-375 rounds per minute. They have a new round that's like a huge shot gun, shitting out 35-40 marble sized pellets for anti-personel engagements. Rock solid. I'm an MP, so we mount all our weapons on the HMMVEE.
I'm in the on deck firing order for the 50, so not much longer. Time for a Red Man wad... Posted via Mobile Device |
