Do you tip appliance delivery guys?
I'm taking delivery of a new washer and dryer tomorrow. When you get delivery of an appliance, is a tip expected? If so, how much?

I really don't think so, but I don't buy a lot of appliances. I've never tipped any other kind of delivery guy except the pizza variety.

depends on how much they have to do. If they are going out of their way to make sure that they aren't just dropping off the units in the garage still in the box, I would tip em 10-15 bucks.

If they are bringing them downstairs and hooking em up and offer to help you get the old ones out of there, I would make that tip 10 bucks a piece or a max of 30 bucks.

Thats just me.

The delivery service I was sold included delivery and hookup. I was told that they would also move the existing appliances to another location of my choice. My home is a single floor so its not like they are having to do any real grunt work.

In that case, Id just make sure the path to the old units is clear of obstacles and offer em a beverage...that's about it.

If you already paid for hookup and they don't have to go up or down stairs, they likely are getting paid quite well for not a whole lot of work.

The only people that tip in situations like that are the guys with bloody people wrapped up in carpet in the trunk of their Lincoln.

Always offer a bottled water or something. Beyond this, if you throw each guy a $5 or so for lunch, that's more than enough, but you're certainly not obligated to do this.

Had it done once, and they had to put some work in. Had to bring new appliances down stairs, and old appliances back up. Offered them a bottle of water, and upon completion of the task with no scratches, or mishaps, flipped them each $5 for lunch. They took a lot of care and did a good job, if they had not, they would've been lucky to get the water.

Almost as stupid as people willing to pay for new ones.

Honestly, we're talking about washer/dryers, dishwashers, and frankly I can't think of $3it else you'd buy that someone else had to deliver.

Why the **** would you pay that much for $#it most people have provided for them at the average apt or duplex? The local laundrymat is as full of scum and worthless failures of society as anyplace you'd find and I have yet to hear of a case of the ghona-sypha-TB-a-losis being caught there.

And to tip a mother****er on on top of it all?...
