Quaterback
Matt Cassel (28) - 4 years remaining on 6 yr $63m contract Brodie Croyle (27) - in last year of 1 year contract. *Free Agent He can test the market, willing to resign him if he's cheap Running Back Jamaal Charles (23) - In last year of 3 year contract. *Restricted Free Agent Good thing we control him, time to pay the dude. Thomas Jones (32) - 1 year remaining on 2 yr contract Jackie Battle (27) - *Restricted Free Agent I'd let him walk, no need to spend money resigning 3rd stringers when you can always find talent at rb Tim Castille (26) - *Free Agent See ya Mike Cox (25) - *Restricted Free Agent Will not cost much to sign the guy so get it done. Tight End Tony Moeaki (23) - 3 years remaining on contract Jake O'Connell (25) - Under Contract next season Leonard Pope (27) - *Free Agent Whatever Wide Receiver Dwayne Bowe (26) - 1 year remaining on contract after season Get the checkbook out Clark, time to spend some $$$$ Chris Chambers (32) - 2 years remaining on Contract after season I'd cut his lazy ass Terrance Copper (28) - *Free Agent see ya Dexter McCluster (22) - 4 years remaining on contract Verran Tucker (22) - Signed undisclosed rookie contract. Assuming at least 2 years remaining after season Jerehme Urban (30) - 1 year remaining on contract after season Offensive Line Branden Albert (26) - 2 years remaining on 5 year contract Jon Asamoah (22) - 3 years remaining on contract Ryan Lilja (29) - 2 years remaining on contract Rudy Niswanger (28) - *Free Agent See ya Ryan O'Callaghan (27) - *Free Agent I'd see if I could sign him for a low price Barry Richardson (24) - *Restricted Free Agent again, try to keep him if the price is right Brian Waters (33) - 1 year remaining on contract Casey Wiegmann (37) - 1 year remaining on contract Defensive Line Glenn Dorsey (25) - 3 years remaining on contract Shaun Smith (29) - *Free Agent I think this guy has earned a spot, just don't break the bank on him. Anthony Toribio (25) - Undisclosed contract Tyson Jackson (24) - 3 years remaining on contract Need to find a trade partner Wallace Gillbery (25) - *Restricted Free Agent after season Ron Edwards (31) - *Free Agent See ya Linebacker Derrick Johnson (28) - 5 years reamining on contract Tamba Hali (27) - *Free Agent Big priority Demorrio Williams (30) - 2 years remaining on contract Mike Vrabel (35) - *Free AgentThanks, but its probably time to move on Andy Studebaker (25) - 3 years remaining on contract Cameron Sheffield (22) - 3 years remaining on contract Corey Mayes (27) - *Free Agent whatever Cory Greenwood (25) - *Free Agent Justin Cole (23) - *Free Agent Jovan Belcher (23) - 1 year remaining on contract Charlie Anderson (28) - *Free Agent see ya later dude Defensive Back Eric F*ing Berry (21) - 4 years remaining on contract Brandon Flowers (24) - 1 year remaining on contract Javier Arenas (23) - 3 years remaining on contract Brandon Carr (24) - *Restricted Free Agentneed to keep him Kendrick Lewis (22) - 3 years remaining on contract Donald Washington (24) - 2 years remaining on contract Jackie Bates (24) - Reserve contract (Restricted Free Agent) Travis Daniels (28) - *Free Agent Reshard Langford (24) - *Free Agent Maurice Leggette (24) - *Restricted Free Agent John McGraw (31) - *Free Agent Ricky Price (23) - Undisclosed Contract Special Teams Thomas Gafford (27) - *Free Agent Ryan Succop (24) - 1 year remaining on contract Dustin Colquitt (28) - 2 years remaining on contract To be honest we are in pretty good shape. Clark will need to break open the checkbook to keep guys like Bowe, Hali, Charles, and Carr in KC, but it shouldn't be that difficult. I also think that sets us up to draft the best possible players. We need a real NT, a rush LB to compliment Hali, and we need to invest in the Oline. We should be able to do that. |

Dj was just resigned and I think I remember reading they are working on Hali's new contract now so he should get resigned before the season ends.
Cut Chambers and draft a WR in round 1 since it looks like we'll be drafting in the low 30's |

Cassel will return, undoubtedly... and to the chagrin of many Chiefs fans that still hate the guy. It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with Brodie this offseason. I don't see the Chiefs signing him for more than a single season at a time. He's a filler, there because we have to have someone. Has experience and a wee bit 'o talent. And frankly there's nobody else. If KC drafts someone in the late rounds (which they need to start doing) you still want him here at least for another year so the rookie doesn't get plastered in a bad situation (were Cassel to go down). He's a Free Agent, he's not going to be a starter for this team unless an injury happens. He makes a very good living and has it easy, by all accounts. Does he have the drive to become a starting QB elsewhere? If he does want to go and try his hand, KC will have to bring in a veteran backup and not rely solely upon the draft. Whatever we do - Draft a QB somewhere. Be it 2nd or 7th round.
Jamaal will be resigned. I will tell myself that, ignoring that this might turn bad for the Chiefs not having him re-signed past his rookie contract expiration. Yes, bring TJ back for his last year. He still has been productive, and has been tremendous in the clubhouse. Having a those successful veterans like Lilja, Wiegs, TJ, and Vrabel has helped this team in ways that I don't think any of us will fully understand. Cox will be brought back/I believe Battle will be brought back next year possibly backing up Cox at FB. Castille will not return, we'll draft a RB or look for one in the UFA crop. At Tight End, we have youth and promise.. we also don't have anything that can be considered a stable force. O'Connell is meh... but young. Pope is a favorite of Haley, and Moe is scary with the inuries... I think we need a TE, but think Haley will have all 3 back. It's definitely not a glaring weakness currently. Our WR outlook outside of Dwayne is bleak. Chambers is terrible and old (will be cut), Copper is getting old for a Special Teamer\backup type, McCluster has a lot of hype for a Special Teamer\Gimmick player, Tucker is an adequate backup and special teamer (replacing Copper), Urban may be brought back because we basically have nobody else and is under contract. Get a WR in FA and Draft one (or trade for Fitz). This position outside Bowe is a huge weakness and will hold us back offensively for years if not addressed. Hopefully Barry Richardson can be resigned (at least in my opinion), he' is certainly no world beater but has done well enough for a guy of only 24 yrs age. I'm not sure Waters and Weigmann can survive another year. One of them will certainly retire, probably Weig's. The Rudy experiment is obviously over. We are going to be hurting in the middle next year unless Pioli makes a splash somewhere. We need a Guard and a Center in a bad way for the future. Sign one in Free Agency (Carl Nicks, Ryan Kalil anyone?) and Draft another. Not sure what to think of O'Callaghan still... I think he's probably on the way out to bring in some youth (he ain't a youngin anymore). Our D-Line has turned out to be much better than we expected. Dorsey is having a fabulous year, they will try hard to bring Smith back, Jackson will be back, and Gillberry has played out of his mind. No idea if Toribio figures into the future plans, Edwards will not be coming back, he's fallen off as the season has gone on. We certainly need to make a splash in the middle. While the outsides are solidified by 4 players, we have nothing in the gut. Sign one and Draft another. Gotta re-sign Tamba. No if's, and's, nor but's. Re-sign him and pay him. Make him happy. Now, that's 2 of 4 LB spots. He and Johnson can be good players, but I they are both getting there in age (late 20's). Belcher has been adequate, but is more suited athletically to reserve, spot-starting, special-teams. Vrabel is so old that he literally makes me feel young. Studes will be here for awhile but is not ready for the outside. We have to not only hit the Free Agent market here to find at LEAST one starter on the outside, but maybe inside. And we have to draft heavy here in the coming years. Linebacker is without question where we are weakest on this team. Outside of Tamba\Johnson and maybe Belcher\Studes as reserves... yikes. Hopefully Shieffield back next year will help, but I don't think anyone is going to expect much after that injury. Goodbye to Mayes, Vrabel (it's been swell), Cole, Anderson, Greenwood, and possiblly Williams (what a horrible signing that has turned out to be). The Secondary is definitely something to look forward to in the future. We run 5 deep that are very, very good. Washington has shown his athletic ability at times this season, possibly keeping an extended future here. Langford showed a lot of promise in the pre-season (what happened during the season?). I could see Leggette coming back next season, but he has been not good on Special Teams. Turnover in our secondary will be minimal (McGraw maybe?) and on the back end. We need better depth at Safety (as the Denver game exposed). Don't necessarily need to draft a DB this year, Maybe pick one up in FA to replace McGraw. In retrospect, the players I would like to see part ways with the team: RB Tim Castille WR Chambers, Copper, Urban OL Niswanger, O'Callaghan, Wiegmann DL Toribio, Edwards LB Vrabel, Mayes, Greenwood, Cole, Anderson, maybe Williams too DB McGraw

Much will depend on a new CBA and what will follow in free agency. A couple of potential FA's could be WR Breston of AZ and OL Mankins of NE. There's a NE/Haley connection. Don't think we'll draft a WR in the first round but wouldn't be surprised to see a trade for Fitzgerald.

As far as the draft, what I'd like to see is
1 QB Late in the draft is fine 1 WR (early) at least 1 Interior OL Maybe a NT if it fits **Linebackers... like 4 of them.** In no particular order.

As far as TE goes...what about Cottam? Is he still officially with this team? I thought he was...I wouldn't mind having him as Mo's backup over O'Connel
