Santana Moss to be free agent
Updated: February 6, 2011, 10:10 AM ET
Source: Santana Moss to be free agent By Adam Schefter ESPN Archive The contract of Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss voids this week, five days after the Super Bowl, making him an unrestricted free agent whenever there is a new collective bargaining agreement, according to a league source. NFC East blog Moss restructured his contract in 2009 and included a clause that said his contract will automatically void five days after Super Bowl XLV. The 31-year-old Moss had a career-high 93 receptions in 2010, his first season with coach Mike Shanahan. He also had fourth career 1,000-yard season (1,115) and six touchdowns. The 10-year veteran has 593 receptions for 8,558 yards 52 touchdowns. Adam Schefter is ESPN's NFL Insider. |

I'd love it if he was 5 years younger.
That's what we need: a 27-year old Santana Moss. Not a 32-year old one. |

I would take him for cheap, no doubt about it considering what we have outside of Bowe

This guy is completely useless with Cassel at QB.

Would defiantly put some speed on the field at WR... Could stretch the field and open things up for McCluster and Bowe....
Plus with Cassel in year 3 of the Chiefs... It would for sure be an aerial show... |

They will pick up Braylon Edwards. Todd Mora Jr. needs someone new to mold and yell at.

He had one of his better years this year. Gotta wonder if that was all about him playing for a contract?
I don't think he is going to demand a relatively cheap salary. Still a lot better than what we have opposite Bowe. A speed guy who can stretch the field is pretty much what this team could use. |

I'm still holding out hope that a guy like Vincent Jackson, Malcom Floyd, James Jones or Steve Breaston hit free agency but since I'm not holding my breath, I wouldn't hate signing Moss to a short-term, cheap deal. That's also assuming that he'd be willing to sign a short-term, cheap deal....
