I was thinking about our team today and what I am looking for out of this season. I decided that a great scenario would involve us having 1\3 of a championship roster right now, 2\3 by the end of the season, and the pieces all in place by next year (even if those players haven't yet reached championship potential).

I don't know if we are on schedule yet, but we might be. We would need 3 everyday players. Billy Butler is one. Escobar may be another. Gordon may be another. Guys like Kila and Pena I would consider longshots. All things considered, I'd say we probably have 3 out of that bunch.

I would like to believe that Hoch will be on that level, but its hard to say. Francis looks great so far, but I don't know that he will be around that long. Chen won't, Davies sucks, and nobody else is worth mentioning. Crowe has the best chance, but its hard to project him at this point. We may be on schedule with our starters between Crowe, Hoch, and Francis, but that's pretty optimistic.

Our bullpen is ahead of schedule, so that's a plus.

I would like to think that Cain, Moose, and Hosmer will bring us 2\3 of the way there by the end of the season as far as the lineup is concerned. Maybe Mazarro can get it going soon, and the lefties can start joining the roster by the end of the season.

What do you guys think? Is that a reasonable timeline, and where are we in relation to it?

Radio guys confidently predicted that Jeff Francis would give up 5 runs or less.

Well gee guys, way to set that bar high. If he gives up 5 runs, we're in trouble.

Thought that was White, but hadn't seen him in years, so wasn't sure.

My favorite Royal back in the good days of Royals baseball.

Sounds reasonable.

We need two guys to emerge in the rotation. Crow? Montgomery? Lamb? Someone else? I don't care, but we need two. Currently, we have a #4, and that's all; his name is Hochevar.

I'm not trying to kill the guy. Just saying it like it is. He doesn't suck, but he's definitely not a 1-3.

That OB% keeps getting better.

That's what you want in a leadoff hitter.

Not too familiar w/ Getz, is he fast/ can he steal?
