ChiefNow's otherwise pointless thread on South Dakota high school girls sports....

...has given me an idea.

We need a team to follow this offseason.

Is there a really boring sport, like girls high school basketball in South Dakota, that we could all follow and invest our energy in, a la the Chiefs?

We could create a running thread, email the coach with roster suggestions, and generally turn into a Berrylium-quality obsession until the season starts.

Any teams or leagues you'd suggest?

Keep in mind the team we pick needs to have a website where stats, record, etc, are posted so that we can follow the team.

A pro team may not be worthy of our efforts, unless it was a minor league pro team.

Yeah, they don't have a personalized web site, just a league web site.

Their website won me over.

I really like this idea. It needs to be something where the athletes will find us when they ego-google themselves, and will think we're real fans.

How about some 2A girls basketball conference in West Virginia? We can find one and then divvy up the teams and adopt players and stuff. I think it would be fun.

I submit the Wichita Wingnuts. They are not affiliated with MLB.
