Same reason fans think KC is cheap.

Just because you spend $ doesn't mean you will hammer the cap. Pay $ up front on certain contracts and it doesn't kill the cap. It is no different than the "restructuring" of contracts that goes on all the time. The difference is if your smart you don't have to do that.

The Chiefs lost a top tier RB, their best receiving option outside of Bowe, and the top young safety in the NFL at the very beginning of last season. Why would it be strange for any fan base to think that the return of those players could put the team in much better position?
