Blender recomendations
It's time for me to get a new blender. We tried an Oster last week but it just did not do well with ice. Since this is the primary reason we are getting the blender, we really want it to pulverize ice. Our budget is $100 and under.

We have the same crappy Oester blender from when we got married 30 years ago. We hardly ever use the blender but use our food processes quite a bit. Here is the list of things I use a blender for:

Crushed ice fru-fru drinks (hardly ever make them)
Milk shakes (too fat -- never make them)
Breakfast Smoothies (never make them)

If we didn't have a blender, I probably wouldn't get one based on what I know about blenders. So what do modern blenders do better than food processors? What do you folks use them for?

I have this one. I only really use it for smoothies in the morning. I use frozen fruit in my smoothies and not ice, so I can't speak it's ability with ice. It replaced my old Cuisanart just fine. I'd add that those blades are legit and probably should be kept clear of small children.
