Would anything actually make you walk away from the Chiefs?

This will be a somewhat long read, so get some snacks and a drink.

I've been thinking about this lately for the first time in my life and have mentioned it in passing a couple times.

I've sat through them trading for backups from other teams my whole life (I'm 37) and always coming up short. I've driven 10-12 hours (round trip) at least 40 times, bought season tickets in 3 years, spent thousands going to training camp almost every year, spend at least an hour a day chatting about the team, probably dropped 8k on single game tickets everywhere in the Stadium from the worst seats in the house (for the 2003 Indy playoff game where that was all I could afford, but wasn't gonna miss it for anything) to literally the best seats in the house (club level fifth row, the first 4 rows are uncovered, the fifth row is the best...basically Julius Ceasar seats) , thousands on gas, thousands on hotels, bought the jersey of almost every first round pick of the team (until Tyson Jackson broke that streak) spent thousands on ST...you get the point.

I've been a loyal "true fan" for my whole life.

I guess I'm just not sure how much more gas is left in the tank.

Each time they have traded/signed a backup from somewhere else, they discredit themselves from being a team that truly wants to "win it all".

Deberg
Jaworski
Vlassic
Bono
Gannon
Montana (at his age health for a first rounder)
Grbac
Moon
Green
Huard
Croyle
Thigpen
Cassel
Orton
Palko
Quinn
Daniel
Smith

Let's get down to it.

The next name on that list needs to be a guy we select high in the draft and develop into the teams starter. I don't even care who it is. Cook, Hackenburg, Goff, Jones, Hogan, Brissett...don't care who they select...but they need to draft a premium QB prospect in the upcoming draft and develop him or I think I'm gonna walk away from the team until they get real about the most important position in pro sports.

They trade for another POS backup? They hand the keys over to Daniel? They sign some garbage "project they can coach up" QB? There are better things to do with my time/money.

The ONLY guy I'd be ok with signing would be Drew Brees and even then, I want them to draft a QB in the first 2 rounds to groom to be the future starter. Anything less is unacceptable.

Dalton
Bridgewater
Carr
Rodgers
Flacco
Wilson

All guys that weren't good enough for us to draft/develop? The Chiefs were dead wrong to think that and they need to roll the dice this time.

My question to you guys is this....have you had similar thoughts recently?

Most of us here love the sport and this team, specifically, and I'm wondering if I'm the only one thinking this...

Discuss.

Losing interest in football in general. I already follow the team less than I did a few years ago, partially because of the Chiefs model of building a team and partially because the NFL is just getting ridiculous with rules.

But we keep picking DL (both DT & DE) in the 1st round over and over (Sims, Dorsey, Jackson, Poe) and they either bust or do not live up to thier draft position. But by God let's clamor for another DL in the 1st again. Or better yet, let's draft a OT in the 1st.

We are stuck, baring an injury, with Alex Smith for at least 3 years. During this time the fan base will buy more tickets and merchandise and the parking lot will be filled again. It will be just like 1990's all over again. Clark will be happy, some fans will be happy and the Chiefs will still be in the same postition they are now, a good team and not a great team which is held back by the lack of play from the QB.

I'll root for them, just not going to drink the Kool Aid. Until this team gets serious in drafting and developing a starting QB of its own and gives up picking up other team's scraps I'm done being a die hard fan.
If KC is picking in the top 10 again and does not draft a QB in the first round I may just be done with this team. I cannot root for a team that keeps bringing in scrubs, brokedicks, and JAG after JAG at the most important position of an NFL team.

It would suck to completely give up but at this point in time I've just failed to give a shit. Clark not wanting to get rid of Pioli has really left a terrible taste in my mouth. It screams apathy and incompetence and that will never change.

Drafting a first round QB will definitely make me happy, and I would love to see us take a chance on a QB, but Clark needs to clean house with most of this coaching staff or force fat Andy to give up playcalling.

Going through another new coach without drafting a QB high will seal their fate for me. That would close the door on so many fans and accomplish apathy.

I seriously thought about quitting the Royals about 10 years ago, but just couldn't do it. They're in my DNA. So no, I can't quit the Chiefs.

But I'm seriously considering letting my Sunday Ticket lapse next year because I don't feel the need to watch the Chiefs' every move (plus, like others, I'm kinda sliding on the NFL as a whole -- I'm not even playing fantasy this year for the first time in eons, so there's another reason not to have Sunday Ticket).

I'm discovering there's other things I like doing with my time, that don't cause me frustration. I already don't get too up or down when they win or lose, so why monopolize my time if there's something better to do? I'll still follow the team, but I don't think I'll schedule my Sundays around them anymore.

If they actually win a playoff game, they'll probably draw me back in.

Bob Dole is about as done as he will probably get. This team is so bad, Bob Dole did not wear a Delaney jersey on Sunday for the first time in a decade. It felt insulting to Joe's memory to suit up for another shitfest.

If they moved to a different city or possibly changed names...

That' about it. They've shit on my heart for 25 years so there's nothing they could do as the kc chiefs to make my love stop.

They'd have to literally not be the kc chiefs

Become apathetic? Yes

Completely walk away? No

I'm not renewing my ST's next year...have had them for nearly 10 years now. I can't see myself coming back any time soon. The product does not even come close to justifying the cost. Tired of watching a team like Denver win consistently with different coaches and players every other year. That's what happens when your organization is committed to winning from top to bottom, and not just putting asses in the seats.

I'm down to being a minimal effort fan. I.e. they only effort I'm putting into the Chiefs is turning on my TV.

This team doesn't deserve this fanbase
