Good draft.
Can't argue against any of the picks. Really like Fackrell. Big dude with excellent production and instincts. Plays hard. I think that Carson is a bit redundant with Spencer Ware playing as well as he has the past couple of games and I'd look for a guy who is more of a flex back, but that's nitpicking. If Boykin can translate to the pros at the QB position (really big if at this point), this draft is a good one. |

Thanks Sac. I thought about the RB position alot, I think it depends on Charles' recovery this time around. Chiefs may not even sniff the position in the draft. You may be right on the flex back option, but I'd prefer a guy like Storm Woods or Paul James (when healthy) that can be a true back and not a De'Anthony Thomas gadget player.
As for the QB position, what a cluster****... I mean, we're relying on three juniors to declare just to even make it a conversation: Lynch, Goff, and Hackenberg. Aside from those three and Connor Cook, I'm not sniffing any of the rest before the end of round four. With those four, they all likely go long before the Chiefs pick in round 2 and the only one that'll be close to available in round 1 might be Hackenberg. After those guys you end up with a whole bunch of guys with alot of flaws. The best of what's left is probably Kevin Hogan if a coach can shorten up that delivery of his. After that, its really a craps shoot of bad decision makers mixed with spread offense what ifs. At least we have some knowns with Boykin that point towards NFL potential, and hell, its a 5th round pick. He has the added bonus of maybe transitioning to receiver if he doesn't look like an NFL QB, unless he is boneheaded like Tim Tebow. |

Just to quibble a bit with your preface, I think this is the year we see a ton of 2nd round quality QB prospects. Even the supposed "top tier guys" have gigantic holes in their game which don't make them slam-dunk 1st rounders. Goff may be the only exception at this time, but that means (in my premature estimation) a ton of them could easily fall to us towards the bottom of the 1st.

I really like your first 3 picks as prospects, especially Jones, who I think will rise to mid to top end of the 2nd rd.
Couple questions: Why no QB in the first 2 Rds? Are there any you like that high? Why no CB? I know we have Nelson, but I'd still draft one high with Gaines coming back from an ACL tear. Hopefully We keep all of our DB's and add more depth. I think you are on point with This regimes objectives. I think they are gonna be looking hard for another OT early.

Let's face it. The Chiefs are never drafting a quarterback. There will be an excuse the following season not to draft one. The insanity continues.

It remains an enormous IF that all of Lynch, Goff, and Hackenberg declare as Juniors. All could use development yet as a Senior. IF all three declare, then you have a decent top end to the class. IF not, you have Connor Cook and a whole bunch of nothing. Depending on what happens with this whole situation, I think you could see Hogan and Kessler overdrafted. In either scenario, I don't see any of the top QBs making it into the 20's, where I expect KC to be selecting, with the exception of Hackenberg who I'm not taking in round 1. I'm also not taking Hogan nor Kessler nor any other QB I haven't listed here in round 2. Well MAYBE Hogan, but I need to see more. Far too many significant flaws reserved for 4th to 5th round guys you take a flier on being a capable backup.
As a matter of fact, this draft seems to be very reliant on Junior declarations to make it even remotely worthwhile. It could end up eerily similar to the 2013 draft. I don't think there is enough talent to push teams away from taking QBs early if they do declare. Last edited by kccrow; 11-29-2015 at 10:23 AM.. |

Run, forgot to answer your inquiry about the DBs... Much depends on what the Chiefs can get done in free agency with their own. Retaining both Smith and Berry will be a tough out. I think they'll command similar price tags and the Chiefs are a worse team without Smith than they are without Berry. If I had to make a choice, I'd keep Smith despite the fact I really like Berry.
Like the QB situation, the DB situation is very much the same. You're relying on about 8-10 Juniors to declare to legitimately make up a solid 1st and 2nd round. Hell, this entire draft seems to be that way. I'm scared of it until there are some knowns, to be honest. |

Marks is going to be a slot/possession receiver in the NFL. He doesn't have blazing speed but runs great routes and is quick. Really good hands too. He is also only about 6'0" and 190 so not really big either.

Just as an update. Due to injury Gabe Marks will not be coming out this year.

Lot of good corners this year. It really wouldn't surprise me if they just said **** it and drafted one in the first 2 rounds.
