Chiefs Offseason Planet Evaluation: De'Anthony Thomas

Time to evaluate the littlest Who in Whoville.

Poll coming faster than a sprint to the podium to select Ryan Sims ahead of the Vikings.

DAT appeared in all 16 games with 2 starts. He had 143 receiving yards (10.2 ypr) and 2 TDs, and also 1 rush for 4 yards. He fumbled once.

He also returned 8 punts for 16 yards (2.0 yards per return), and 13 kickoffs for 305 yards (23.5 yards per return).

Offers very little and is an absolute disaster returning kicks/punts.

As far as 5th WRs go I guess he isn't horrible.

D.

Not a contributor on offense.
Non factor in the return game.

As a mid round (4th round) draft choice, i never expected much, but I expected SOMETHING out of him. Never lived up to the hype, and never had any type of memorable role.

Im not giving him an F, because expectations were low. But I will give a D, because he couldnt even meet low expectations as a returner for Toub.

Should be gone this offseason.

It seems like his niche is as a punt gunner. He seemed to do a good job at that this year.

Other than that, it seems like he's got a role filling in wherever needed as injuries hit, though at a minimal performance level. I could see him sticking with the team next year in that role.

I suspect he would do much better if he weren't a teammate of the amazing Tyreek Hill. DAT seems to me to be trying too hard to show how much big-play ability he has, even though he seems instead to show that he can't follow basic guidelines about when not to attempt a return.

If DAT goes elsewhere, I think he would play better.

He never did much before Reek was around either, despite being used in the offense much more often. He's just not elusive.

Expendable. Sometimes I forget he’s even on the team

I probably shouldn't post about him. Everyone's screaming at me NOT to post.

But I just have to do it so I'm going to try to come up with something amazing to say.

And then this post leaves everyone pissed off and wondering why I tried to post in the first place.

Some value as a gunner and not much else. I'm sure we can find an UDFA/PS player to take his place at a cost savings.

He broke himself running backwards to catch a punt at the one yard line.

It’s literally everything wrong with him as a player in one moment.
