Life Anyone here ever have DVT Deep Vein Thrombosis or suffer a blood clot in the leg?

I've had some weird health issues this past year as I've gotten older. (56 1/2)

I now have either a DVT or blood clot on the inside of my left leg, a little above my knee cap.

Has anyone here dealt with this health issue and what was the treatment?

Any info greatly appreciated.

If it’s a DVT and it’s above the knee, you need to be on a blood thinner ASAP, as they have a tendency to propagate, break free and travel to the lungs (pulmonary embolus) which can be life threatening.

Why do you think it’s a DVT?

You will be hospitalized and put on DVT blood thinners heparin, warferin or coumadin. The hospital will keep you there till you reach a certain level with the drug. In some cases they'll put a filter in your artery.For about 6 months you'll have to go and get blood tests to watch your drug levels.

I have a burning area on the inside of my thigh that's an area of rougly 2" wide by around 6-8" long that is sore and hot. My calf is swollen, hard and sore.

It is very difficult to bend my leg from both pain and swollen.

I think with all the sitting on wood bar stools over the last 10-15 years, I've cut off circulation in my legs and made it easy for a clot or DVT to form. I've also been sedentary for the last 5 months with almost no exercise.

Not necessarily. Uncomplicated DVTs can now be treated as an outpatient with warfarin alternatives, that don’t require checking levels nor initiation with heparin.

Anyway, gotta go to work, but OP, if you really think you have a DVT, ie: pain in the back of the leg, swelling in that foot/lower leg, get it evaluated (ultrasound) ASAP.

First: It's a medical emergency and you should go to the ER ASAP
. If it dislodges and you end up with a PE, the mortality rate is 30%

Spent over a year counseling patients w/ DVT, PE, or stroke on proper use of blood thinners, signs and symptoms of a clot, and proper management.

Busy right now, but I'll PM you shortly.

Biggest sign of a DVT is redness, pain and swelling in one leg, not both. PE is chest pain, tightness, and difficulty breathing.
