Vacuum Sealers- Looking at getting one.

I'm looking at getting a vacuum sealer. What are you guys using and why?

Looking to butcher a hog soon. Plan on also using it for deer, fish, etc etc.

What about bags, any preference on those?

I have this one, it's an older model but has worked well for me. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I normally buy the rolls and make my own bags. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Same.

Been using for nearly a decade now. Mostly for storing hops and as sous vide bags but its coming in handy now as I'm stocking up on proteins for the Ronas.

I've had a love hate with vacuum sealers. Finally found one I love. I think the game changer was that newer ones have a clamp to lock it down for sealing. The biggest pain in the ass is closing the lid then finding out the top of the bag wasn't set properly. I had one that wouldn't start unless it felt the bag to caught properly. I think the clamp has made a big difference. I'm guessing more modern versions now have it.

We've had a Foodsaver for several years and get a lot of use out of it. Buy meat in bulk when it's on sale and vacuum pack it.

Yep - we swear by the Foodsaver. Had it for years.

I've had a FoodSaver for a long time. My original one died about a year ago, so I got a new one. It works, although it can be tempermental. Amazon has pre-made bags on sale for pretty cheap but carefully check the size. One bad part of living in Alaska - one company that sells 40 gallon bags for about $30 charges me $97 shipping to Alaska. Don't know why they can't just put them in the mail like everybody else.

Was a bit pricey but I bought this last year, use it all the time. I've had to many < $100 models crap out on me so I splurged a bit.
