My first reaction was "of course they will", but then I read through the text. What does happen if Mahomes gets injured and the Chiefs end up not winning the west? How do they get the money back?

They know what their liability is, and the % chance that the Chiefs don't win. If they had to double pay out, they would just call it a marketing expense. |

Seems kind of strange considering that the Chiefs have only played one AFC-W team thru 4 weeks.

Sure, but never heard of the books just giving away money before.
Wait. So they closed the book on the AFC-W champion, so no one can bet on it anymore. Now I get it. Never mind. |

No idea if the book is closed but this will only apply to bets already placed, Did you think you could bet now and instantly be paid out a winner? |
