Mortal Kombat 1
I don't think many CPers are into Mortal Kombat these days but I had a ton of fun with MK11 so I'm pretty excited for this one.

I thought MK11 was pretty dang good. I mean, i never finished it or anything but it's the first fighting game i've been able to put hours into since i was a kid. No other fighting title before that could really hold my attention enough to put actual hours into.

Same for me. I happened to pick it up on a whim when I saw it for like $11 including all the DLC/fighter packs. I was not upset with that purchase.

Kind of crazy, because I dumped loads of hours into fighting games growing up: Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Tekken, Killer Instinct.

You remember these bad boys here?

Have they confirmed that he won’t be in MK1?

He was just in MK11 and he’s a fan favorite, but they’ve only got so many slots and a **** ton of other fighters they’re going to want to cycle in..

Last I heard, though, they’d only had like 8 fighters confirmed with likely 15-ish more spots available so unless I missed something there is still a chance he’s on the roster or makes DLC.

Seems a mighty convenient way for a retcon of events, give Liu Kang god-like time traveling powers then have him go back to redo the events of MK1, start over fresh with today's fighting game mechanics and graphics, then ensure a sequel most likely by following into Shao Khan's storyline and Quan Chi.

I have a hard time believing that Liu Kang wouldn't just get rid of Mortal Kombat all together knowing what he knows about the system, to save lives and worlds, but he'll probably have some line about honor and fighting for your world etc etc.

The time traveling was definitely their convenient vehicle to get started on a major reboot.

Did you happen to play MK11? More specifically, the Aftermath DLC?

I won a bunch of South Florida tournaments back in the day: MK, SF2, and Killer Instinct.

My father took me up to Chicago at one point to go to an arcade in northern Chicago called Diversions during its period beta-testing MK2.

Definitely some of the best times of my life.

I loved Tekken too but I never felt very good at it. But it all started with Karate Champ. That was the OG of all of this.

I remember going to see the MK movie on opening weekend. my friends liked it. I thought the Street Fighter movie was better because I could at least follow the plot. MK 1 & 2 were great but I didnt care for the rest. The fighting game franchise I liked most was Samurai ShoDown.
