Matt Miller 2 round Mock Draft

https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/dra...er-senior-bowl

Quote:
32. Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas

The Chiefs' offense was able to adjust in the playoffs, but we can't forget there is a serious lack of speed holding back this unit. Worthy brings plenty of juice down the field. He caught 26 touchdown passes in three seasons at Texas while posting over 60 catches and 750 yards each year. Worthy just might be the fastest player in the draft class, and his ability to get behind defenses and create big plays is exactly what Kansas City has been missing since Tyreek Hill took his talents to South Beach.
Quote:
64. Michael Hall Jr., DT, Ohio State

Chris Jones' future in Kansas City is unclear, with the star defensive tackle set to get a big contract in free agency. And because cornerback L'Jarius Sneed is also a free agent, the Chiefs have some big decisions ahead -- but re-signing Sneed and drafting to replace Jones is the most likely scenario. Hall had a dominant Senior Bowl week, showcasing burst and first-step quickness that is rarely seen from a college tackle. He's undersized at 6-foot-2 and 280 pounds, but the Chiefs are desperate for an inside rusher, and Hall excels there.
Not a fan of the Worthy pick, especially with Franklin still in the board. Love the Hall pick in the 2nd though.

I would be very happy with Franklin and Hall.

Yeah, if Franklin's still on the board, that's a better pick. I also like Hall but I'd be surprised if I liked him at 64. I'd prefer Maason Smith there. Both the Texas DTs, Jenkins from Michigan. **** all Wingos - otherwise I'd probably prefer Wingo as a raw talent (but again, ****WingosForever). The Clemson kid looks good. I dunno - 2nd seems a full round early for Hall.

Have a link? That'll ultimately tell me how much I like the mock; I suspect there will be plenty of guys I like better than the two he took.

Agree with ya staylor. The pro is that Worthy doesn't turn 21 until the draft. The con is he's listed as 6'1" 172 lbs.

Pretty lanky guy. Wonder if he'll pull a Zay Flowers and try to add on 10 lbs before the combine?

Mekhi Wingo looks like the truth. Too bad his family is such a boat anchor around his neck.

I think I like Worthy more than Franklin. I don't really have a preference, I think Worthy profiles out a bit better in terms of versatility?

Seeing the difference even an average version of MVS has made in the playoffs shows just how much this offense needs a guy who will stress safeties.

From that standpoint, I wouldn't be disappointed in Worthy, though I do question your 'versatility' comment given that Worthy is a beanpole. What I think I like about Franklin as I've watched him a little more is that he's a taller receiver that doesn't really play like a taller one.

He's smoother in and out of his breaks. He's not a long-strider with a slow first gear. He uses technique and footwork well. He's a good receiver that's tall - he's not just a tall receiver.

I've decided I'd probably be fine with either of them in the 1st, but I'd prefer Franklin. I think I've moved him into 4th among the WRs for our squad (5th in a vacuum; I think Thomas is a better 'pure' prospect but if they were both on the board, I think I'd lean Franklin).

I think Worthy eventually fills out a bit more with his frame and can do some of the move stuff they did with Hill and Hardman.

I'm not sure Franklin can do that, but he's more valuable as a tried and true outside WR.

Love the Hall pick, personally I am not a huge fan of Worthy just because I think his skillset is specialized. I think Troy Franklin can still stretch a defense but give you a little more juice in the short/intermediate areas of the field.

Yeah, I do think Franklin can be a legit outside type WR and not as scheme dependent whereas Worthy may be.

We're getting a Franklin hype train going. Wonder if we'll end with a consensus favoured pick. I reckon we'll need to go up for Franklin. If it's to the mid-20s I'd do it, I just think there's a big enough drop off from him to the next tier.

I think Hall is a bit rich there. I think the choice is a guy like him who can probably work as a rotational rusher fairly early, but is probably limited to that only. Or a guy like Maason Smith who might take 3 years to put it together, but the ceiling is damn high.

I like Khristian Boyd (sp?) as a rotational rusher you can probably get a full round or more later than Hall.

I just hate the idea of giving up a 3rd round pick when we could probably use that to get a guy who can replace Trey Smith next season. That's a real nice sweet spot for a developmental Guard (or LBer if we decide Chenal may not be the long-term solution). Heck, you might be able to get a nice interior DL there.

That third round is where you can do a fair bit of damage if you're willing to be patient. It's a spot where a lot of tooled up guys go that need to be developed a little more.

Moving up is going to cost you a 3rd this year and probably a little more on top of it. With as little draft capital as we have, that's a tough ask.
